Haven't been on here for a while so it was good to catch up with everyone's threads and focus on the positive.

All good with my son at present, but as always worry every day, speak to him nearly every day and check his bank account several times a day. I love his, so much and from the bottom of my heart hope he can beat this addiction ... And this is my wish for everyone .. You all stay strong and together we will have a better life and a wonderful future

Jax ... Hoping the past will stay in the past xxx

Hi Jax. Thankyou for your kind words on my thread. You are doing a great thing in your support for your son and I wish you both all the best. I hope that in beating this thing I can show people here that there is a future that doesn't involve gambling. In addititon to the giving up financial control, self excluding etc. it also needs commitment to change and break old habits that trigger urges as well as patience. I hate gambling and love my family. One leads to pain and destruction the other is my principle joy in life. I must always remember this simple fact. I will follow your journey with best wishes. DB

Hi Jac

Thank you for your Christmas Greetings on my diary. I wish you also, a wonderful (and worry free) Christmas - even if for just one day! As a mum, you are entitled to always be worried but have faith and trust in your son and all he is doing at present. Live for now and worry about the future in the future.

Take care and a huge well done to your son also.

Well haven't been on here for a while, as moved house and was without Internet for quite a while, and as you can imagine busy busy busy

Well I want to thank everyone that has supported me over the last year it has been a lifeline to me and without your input would probably be a bit of a wreck

I am so so proud of my son, in January he was one year gamble free, I still check his bank account daily, this is something he wants and has said he wants for the future (at the moment)

He has made a new circle of friends since moving last year, has his own flat, is working hard and hopefully will have promotion later this year.

I worry about him still especially when he seems to get down and stressed, it raises alarm bells and I think of the past ! But I guess that is the mother in me !

So at the moment all is good, he now needs to focus on the future, build on his gamble free days, enjoy life and learn to budget his money !! I feel sometimes. he enjoys life a little too much (lol)

Thank you once again to everyone that was there for me over the last year, your help then and your support were more than I can express in words.

I take so much strength from all the positives on here, and will do in the future

Take care all and have a great day Jx

Very positive WJ

Glad for your son and shows there is hope

Your right to worry as this addiction is powerful and many go back to it even after years of abstinence but its good he's enjoying life now

keep being vigilant

all the best triangle

Hey Jack

Lovely to hear from you again. Soooo pleased that your son is still doing so well - I have a 25 year old living in his own flat. He actually does have a little bet now and again (£5-£10 tops). He knows nothing about my previous gambling problems - he would never believe me if I told him!! He sees me as always being the provider, the sensible one and the good manager of money!! I want it to stay that way and now I am back on my feet again, facing normality - well as normal as I can be just with a lot of extra debt!!

Hopefully it seems, my son does have the same principals about money as I USUALLY do and appears quite sensible about his occasional betting. We do worry about our children all the time I know but I believe we also need to have faith in them as they can truly surprise us. My son has Aspergers but still manages really well living on his own and managing his own finances so I really need to give him more credit than I think really.

I am sure your son will go from strength to strength and one day, will feel confident enough to manage his own money without you worrying about it.

Take care and lovely hearing from you again.

Hey Jac

Lovely to hear from you again and so pleased for you and your son that he remains gamble free and continues to do well.

Hope your worrying does start to subside but you are entitled to do so - you are his mother after all!!

Take care and best wishes as always to you both.
