Baljit, I have stopped gambling by giving up my money to my husband, by banning myself from gambling sites and by having counselling, I havent found it easy all the time but my counsellor tells me that to succeed you need to remove one or more of the following, money, opportunity and time. so give your bank account cards etc to your wife, self exclude from the bookie and try and fill your time up with other things, I hope that helps, Best wishes Maddie

Well done on getting through day one mate, but this is only the start and urges will come, you should listen to other people and self exclude. Get the blocks in place as you will want to gamble again and when you do its good to have blocks in place to prevent you acting on your thoughts.

All the best mate

Baljit ji, I guess from your name you have Punjabi roots. I do as well.

Suunogh dhian nall piareh Baljit Bhaji, ( Listen carefully dear Baljit Brother)

Stop now Bhaji, Stop now, Stop now. It has to stop Bhaji. Please stop for yourself and for all your pervaarh (family).

Meh thwwadeh perey haath llaantha Bhaji: Huuney ruuckjaou piareh Bhaji( I touch your feet with my hands brother - stop now brother)

I have also been hooked and lost all I ever had, but am getting my head round it, slowly, but I think I will be ok.

YOU WILL AS WELL. Do it Bhaji. STOP. Do not let one more penny go into bookies pockets. All will be for you and for your family. No £70, no £7, no 70p, no 7p.

As Sri Guru Nanak ji wrote:

"Maan jeethai jag jeeth" (one who conquers his own mind can conquer the world)

It has to come in this order. Your first battle, and most important battle ever, is your internal battle with your mind.

nomoreloss = Himmat ( my name means courage/determination - at the moment that's a joke for my name, but I am going to make myself respect my name now, and make it mean exactly that- determination, and I am determining right now as I type this morning, to help you out on this road now as well, and any one else caught by this evil as well, and do all I can to bring you out of this rut)

5 and 1/2 days free for me now and I am going to make it for ever.

Best wishes

Himmat

Hi Baljit bhaji

You have to stop playing games with yourself Baljit and get really tough with yourself instead. Losing £100 on-line when you were going to limit youself to £20/week on lottery, is not good. Even the £20 has to come down, because it is too big of a chunk of your pay.

There is little chance of you beating the urge to bet, until you use the weapons you have to help you win.

You can win but the will to win must come from within you, and you must follow the advice given to you by other members - eg Self -exclusion (close your on-line accounts straight-away, and ring the companies to not alloow you to re-open or to send you any literature)

Then give all money and your cash cards, or credit cards to your mrs and ask her to give you no money at all, however much you plead, other than what you need for petrol, snacks, papers etc. If she can get petrol in the car that is best, and give you only very little money.

Then find something else to do, to pass your time after work. If you can't think of anything, then go to the gurudwara and do some seva, every day. Join their gym, and work-out.

Don't forget Guru Nanak's words from Japji Sahib :

"Maan jeethai jag jeeth" - conquer your mind and then the world.

Your war is all about how determined you are

Best wishes Bhaji

Himmat
