Hi Dunc... I seem to remember that Tom Hanks had a spot of toothache in the film Castaway.. have a watch if you haven't seen it. Glad to see your on the mend.

Toothache is most grim thats for sure. My dentist has removed most of the nerves from my top front teeth, so now they can rot away gently without me having to endure the pain.

Great to see that you continue to improve the Cg stats for abstinence and recovery. I intend to keep doing that too. Regards... S.A 🙂

Hey Duncs,

I didn't realize it was world poetry day on thursday. That's real cool, I never wrote poems before, but lately I've had a few come to my thoughts. Poetry is a nice way to share your feelings and put em on paper. I guess it's part of the healing process for me. Have a great weekend, hope that tooth is good.

Evening diary.

Looking back on my own thread today and a year ago today the forum was reeling from the news that mark117 who had just turned his life full circle and completed a year gamble free, had passed away. His diary spoke volumes of truly amazing advice and today a year on fella i salute you. Your log fire still burns bright, i never did get to thankyou but fella your passion for recovery still burns bright.

This today was reason enough to make a choice today to keep the money in our bank.

No bet today and eternal respect to you mark117.

Evening diary.

Well the rain has relented here, everything is flooded out again. Still could be worse as it seems alot of the country has a whiteout.

It seems like the UK does not fare well in the snow.

I am going to enjoy a night on the couch with the whippets as Sarah has gone out to the pictures with some of her workmates and the kids are sure to follow.

For the first time since i started my abstinence i can say today i miss the excitement of the top flight football results, as the international football fails to excite me, it always has. i do enjoy football on many levels, pompey being my own club, but through abstinence i really have learnt to enjoy the game without the stress of chasing results or a last minute goal. through recovery i have learnt that many things that excisted in my gambling life were diluted through formulating bets on the outcome. This like other aspects of living have all reaped the benefits of abstinence. further proof to me that as a compulsive gambler my life is bettered by a choice i made today.

just for today No Bet.

a choice which again continued the winning streak.

Hi Dunc

Hope you are well. I too miss the normal fixtures during international fixture weekend. Like you I no longer miss them from a gambling opportunity perspective but from an football interest perspective.

I now watch Match of the Day most weekends and enjoy the ups and downs each game brings. When gambling I was never interested in watching it because once a game was finished it had no more relevance to me because the opportunity to gamble had gone.

Enjoy your night on the couch and the rest of your weekend.

Well done with your continued success of not gambling.

Hi Duncan ur story is truly heartwarming I'm in a dark place right now and on the verge of losing it all for the third time. I hate the person I am which is a shame because without this curse I truly am genuine. And loving just can't see a way out. Short term I need double the money I have now and only see one way out although I know how this ends truly desperate times.congrats too u u are an inspiration to us all

evening diary.

Today has shown me once again why i commit to giving as much spare time as i have to this forum. firstly it gives me a measure of medicine every time i log on, not a medicine you can find in a chemist, one you can find through abstinence and a belief in recovery. what that medicine gives is a resolve. a resolve to live my life better than that of my previous existence, an addict who lived to feed his addiction, without consideration of the consequence.

secondly I Have made a connection with some wonderful folk here, abstinence actually made me care, we all share a common goal, but there is no competition. a rare thing in life and something today i wish to celebrate.

I hope today that through this the new members to the forum can see this is all about long term futures above short term gains. that is what abstinence can deliver.

that along with our sharing the knowledge we have and supporting each other through the tough times. for this again i am proud to be a gamcarer.

A great life choice.

Had a great leg of lamb for supper, which cost less per kg than the broccoli!!! thanks to that big supermarket!!

every little helps.

day off tomorrow, got opticians for my eye test and docs to discuss my high blood pressure, high cholesterol and my blood sugars all the results of my blood tests.

today i did not gamble what i Have.

why would i?? I keep making a choice that guarantees i win.

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Well i Have a prescription for new stronger glasses, so i Will select some frames with my beloved later this week and look forward to seeing things more clearly lol!!

Our boiler is playing up so the hounds are at a premium for there heat tonight lol. Hope to have it looked at tomorrow, fingers crossed!! The heating engineer seems as hard to come by as a hens tooth!!!

Still our house is full of smiles and it Will take more than a bit of cold to wipe them off!!!

Why?? Because we are all working together to enjoy life.

The Easter break comes soon for Sarah and the kids and heyday looms, oh and most importantly it's egg time!!

And i don't mean boiled, fried or scrambled, I mean Chocolate!!!

And you Will be aware I love chocolate!!!!

Hi Duncs,

Glad that you are still stepping forward my old friend.

I myself have managed to "drill a little hole in the bottom of that jar, and let the sand run out and make room for those golf balls of mine!"

Keep strong fella

All the best
