To remind myself.....

The first 43 days are easy, it’s today that’s important.

Keep working at your recovery.

Not everyone’s ‘rock bottom’ is the same. I typically bet on favourites so a typical days gambling could easily mean staking £5-6k on a succession of favourites, finishing (normally) with a loss of £600. It’s not however a competition.

On-line blocks & self exclusion won’t be enough, I’m going to have to pluck the courage up to exclude in shops as well.

Having gambled both when I’ve had money and had none, when I’ve been busy and stressed, and also when I’ve had time on my hands & bored. It’s not the money or the time.

The mindset of a gambler is what you are trying to change.

You can’t change the past just your today and tomorrow.

My names Ken and I’m a compulsive gambler. My last bet was Monday 27th August.

Some of us will always have that little addiction monster in our ear, I have had since a very early age and I'm 39 next month and it is still there. I know that everyday will be a battle for me, but every day I battle it does get a little bit easier... The addiction wants to win, it wants to make us feel small and it feel big. Every day we don't gamble means we didn't give into the temptation, but that makes the addiction monster angry so it will try even harder, it will always be there waiting to try and win again.

When we realise how much money we would have spent if still gambling it's pretty crazy to think and we forget how much more trouble we could of gotten ourselves into if we didn't stop, just for one day!.

But just one day is an amazing achievement.

You can do this 🙂

First attended GA in 1988 but never made it stick.

30 years later, and in many ways I feel I have wasted much of my life - and that's worse than the money if you know what I mean.

Anyway - its never too late too stop.
