Last year August I started betting on sports to top up my income, I was 3k in the black then went into my overdraft by a few 100. My ex GF left me September, since then things took a turn for a worse and I am now -3k in debt. Maxed out my overdraft, Credit card, and have a few payday loans to get me through the month. This major relapse was driven by depression from her leaving me, I found betting as a form of escapism. I have never been in this much debt in my life.

I have lost the bulk of my money on Sports. The pattern would be the same:

- Win 200 pounds, followed by losing all of my winnings plus much more.

I would bet on heavy favourites, looking at the statistics, and for some reason would have my biggest losses on teams who have a winning record against another team but decide to lose on that particular day. My sport of choice is the NBA, but I have lost a lot of money on the Tennis, Volleyball etc.

I have decided that is enough is enough, this has gone on for too long and has left me extremely depressed and desperate for cash. From this day on I will not gamble. I have self-excluded of my betting accounts, but in case there is an urge will continue posting on here to get support from the community.

I have very little money in my account, less than a 100 pounds, and I have a planned holiday a friends wedding - it will be a struggle.

I am having the same problem, every time I have self excluded, I have found another bookie to open an account with. It is a vicious cycle, the irony is when it came to real life bills I was tight with my money, but would happily spend it away betting not realising the value of the cash - only when I need to spend it. It is also really annoying how the gambling industry has Ray winston promoting it on TV every 2 seconds. This c**P is evil.

Similar situation guys although sports betting leads me onto other types of betting. My biggest problem is I enjoy putting an accumalator on the football at the weekend so I will miss that but I suppose it's all or nothing

I've lost so much money on tennis. Used to bet on individual 'games' and matches. Women players in particular cannot hold their serves, male players can but when I get in a bad run even if they are holding their serve they would get broken as soon as I place a bet on them to win their service game. In addition high ranked tennis players would often get beaten by a low ranked player!

Day 2:

i have just slept 8 hours, the first time after a long time. Sent a photo of myself to a friend yesterday, he had told me that I looked really stressed with bags under my eyes. Up until today I had not been sleeping properly, staying up till 3-4am gambling on the NBA, Baseball etc and generally stressed out financially.

I currently do not feel the urge to gamble. Looked at my account today, £200 to last me till the end of the month from a payday loan.

Fortunantly I have never betted in betting shops, only online. Like you self excluded on every online betting site. Let's do this diary together and try to get through it together, happy to support you as well. Will post another update tomorrow. I have had some urges today, I saw that Golden State Warriors won by 36 points, and thought about betting on the NBA tonight to make 30 pounds, I know that if I did that I will end up betting then maybe winning some then losing it all plus more like I usually end up doing.

that is what is happening, checking the scores all of my picks are winning. Think I will stop doing it since it is creating urges.

I relapsed yesterday 🙁 I was a 100 up then lost winnings plus -150. Now I'm on holiday so not gambling, but my holiday is a bit s**t since I have very little money to spend. Wanted to get a message than realised it was 40 euros, and then realised I had spent the money betting.

I will definently need to keep posting on this diary, not sure I can get through this alone. So:

day 1: in hotel room depressed , 175 euros for 5 days is my budget can't buy anything since everything goes on food.

Day 3:

Going on holiday has been a very positive thing, I've been so busy that I have not found the time to gamble or even had the urge too!

I checked the results today for nba and saw that my pick would have lost anyway.

Being on holiday has also taught me the value of money
