Thank you everyone, my top tip for anyone that wants to quit sports addiction is to keep a recovery diary and do not watch any sports. After a while it loses importance

Hi my addiction is also sports gambling and I reached Day 50 today. Your diary has been a help to me. Its finally losing its grip over me. Good luck and keep doing what your doing

Congratulations for being gamble free for 50 days. Feels good doesn't it?

One of the reasons why I found it hard to let go is because of how sports betting is an accepted form of gambling where people argue that you can make money from it if your technique is good. I hope my diary promotes awareness of how it's the same as other forms of gambling, if not as destructive. In contrast, a lot of the recovery diaries on here are about slots, roulette.

I convinced myself that sports betting was a more intelligent way of gambling and a way of supplementing my income. Obviously I have learned the hard way just how destructive this. Even when I did win it wasn't enough. Thanks for sharing as its helping me on my journey and do not feel as isolated.

I agree I think sports betting is just as bad as casinos and slots the amount of times I've seen long odds underdogs win and short fav lose

That's the problem, the odds are so short for favourites that even if you do make money, all it takes is 1 loss to lose all of your winnings and then subsequently more.

That is not the case when the favourites are losing, but by that point the odds have drifted because they are losing. So to get a return you are betting on them to come from behind. Hence, losses happen.
