Congratulations Martin. Wish you continued success for the next year.

You seem like a down to earth person who writes pretty honestly, which makes you relatable. I appreciate how you openly express your fears and it's sometimes moving seeing how you deal with stuff.

You seem to have achieved a lot more than just stopping gambling. Best wishes for you and your son

I have not had a bet today or since the 23rd September 2015.

Yesterday was 365 days but today is the real year for me.

Thank you all again for the lovely posts I was overwhelmed by them all. I was going to reply to all but they was that many well wishes I'd of took over the forum, so I will just thank you here again and thank you the next time I post to you, they meant so much to me so thanks again

Just a quick post just to say I've had a great weekend with my birthday and a being a year GF. I had my doubts over how I would feel but I've been ok it has crossed my mind the damage I caused but that's now out of my control but the future is not.

The 2 funerals in a day went as well as could be expected we made both and both wakes which left me a little drunk lol.

I had a good day for my birthday a family meal followed by a few beers with my mates which ended up with my taking a kebab home and falling asleep, it never went to waste as I finished it off when I woke up at 2am lol.

I've nipped out for 2 pints today, I only went out as I always bump into a ga member on a Saturday in my local and he has the same last bet day only he is 4 years and I am now at 1 a pleasure to buy him a beer and the pint he bought me tasted better than any pong I've had this weekend and I've had a few

I'll leave it there, it still feels strange when u click on my new diary name but it needed to be changed.

My name is Martin and I'm no longer ashamed to be a compulsive gambler.

Pong ?
I've been in the licensed trade donkeys years and i aint ever heard of that brew....you sure its legal ?
Anyway lovely KTF. ..I'm made up that you've had a cracking weekend.....kebabs at 2am are not good for the digestive system....probabally way worse than fish and chips from hipster Alan !. ..I can say that as he's not here at the moment !
Seriously though....you are another year older now....but hey I'll let you off because you are deffinatly a whole lot wiser ....
Can't wait to see what the future brings you : )

Lol Loxxie you know what I mean

Up bright and early this morning to go and help a GA member who organises Rochdale 10k. Hope it stays dry but at least I'm only standing in the road telling them where to go, could not face running it this morning or any morning for that matter.

Congrats on the 365 and proof is there that recovery can be successful and hopefully you have inspired others. There will be quite a few parents, friends, partners etc. on here hoping for the same good news in the future for their CGs. Good luck and hope you have many happy days from now on.

Martin.

Fella I am somewhat late to the party so to speak, but I would like to extend my huge congratulations to you on your gamble free year, something that I know takes a great deal of commitment and dedication to achieve.

It for me is wholly true that in recovery you get out what you put in, your another shining example of what can be achieved.

I salute you my friend.

Keep making the right choice

Abstain and maintain

Duncs stepping forward never back

I've not had a bet today or since my last post.

Well that last post was 10 days ago I decided to give myself my own little self exclusion for a few days from here, some times you need to get away form here and take stock of your own life, I've had a complete break no posting or reading or chat for over a week. I'm sure they will be a lot to catch up on hopefully all good but not likely unfortunately.

No bet or thoughts of a bet for a while now. Started with man flu last Friday, which hit me for six on Sunday I thought I'd sneezed and pulled muscle in my side, this did get any better so end up in A&E. Never felt pain like it. I got admitted and am still in, nowhere nearer finding out what's wrong. A few ideas floating around from my gallbladder to pleurisy. More test and scans today. Got a half decent night sleep last night was up at 4 in pain so got some more pain killers and caught up on the new blacklist hopefully they will work it out and I'll be back up and running soon

Gutted that last night I missed my first Oldham GA meeting in over a year a proud record taken away from me. I'll just after after start again on that little mini challenge I have

Wish you better soon. You've made every GA meeting that you possibly could so that record's not broken.
