Hi Leah,

Sorry to hear that you have relapsed.....virtual (((((((((HUG)))))))))))) coming your way.

Try and keep strong, I know it's hard to do, but try and focus on making tomorrow a gamble-free day. Do whatever it takes to get some help from your loved ones. Don't let gambling shape your future. You have just taken a wrong turn, it's time to get back on track now. You can do it Leah.

Keep strong

Ade x

Hi leah,

Well it seems you have made 2 days so that's good.
I had lots of payday loans to feed my addiction and yes course it's bad with all the interest you pay. Your credit rating shouldn't worry you at the moment. You need to concentrate on not gambling again and if you do get a payday loan use it for the things you need.
Its a slow process but if you don't go back to gambling everything in your life will improve.

Stay strong xxxxxx hugs xxx

Same advice as before honey...This cycle won't break itself! I know you have sold stuff to try & help you stop but what have you done to tackle the reasons why you gamble! Even if you hit a big win again, it will go the same place as the other times you did it...We cannot win because we cannot stop! Phone the Gamcare team & book some counselling, get to GA (I don't know the full 'fable' but someone there will climb in the hole with you & show you the way out) & in the meantime, get that gambling triangle broken!

You are young & beautiful with your whole life ahead of you, don't wait until you look in the mirror & can't see anything but wrinkles to get help. The longer you leave it, the more destructive this addiction gets!

Welcome back to the site, you can do this - ODAAT

Hello, Leah,

Sorry to hear you're having a bad time of it. But telling us isn't going to change anything. Time for action...from you, no one will do it for you.

Self exclude permanently from as many sites as possible and ask them not to contact you again, unsubscribe from the marketing emails, downgrade your phone to a non Internet version, install blocking software. Get photos and self exclude from bookies/casinos/ bingo halls. Hand over your finances, get a new bank card (your existing one is probably linked to the websites) move from a current account to an instant saver.

Doing these things will make a difference. If you find excuses not to, then how do you expect anything to change?

Finally, get help from the GC helpline and from GA. Again, doing this will make a difference; finding excuses not to won't.

Wish you well,

CW

Hi Leah,

Welcome bk to GC. I relate a lot to you..that vicious cycle of destruction huh :-/...I'm afraid you will not find any friends there, the empty promises will just keep sucking your life out of you.. It's not easy to break that cycle, if it was - we wouldn't be here!
Never give up on giving up and keep believing. Try and notice those little things around you, adding them together will make a lot better picture to look at.
Be kind to you....only then you can start opening up to the outside world and see positives along the way.
Please keep posting, support is here, - take it!..you're not alone ☺

Thanks guys, been reading a book called the addictive personality, its good!! I think the next time I go to try and gamble the book may stop me. In a short version we develop a primary relationship with gambling as it gives us the feelings we want, safety and comfort but after we gamble we are left with shame and guilt so we go back to gambling as its what makes us feel better, I've learnt alot and hopefully myself and not the 'addict' will come out stronger next time...day 3 gamble free

Great news3 days gamble free @ £50 a day that £150 less that you could have deprived yourself of.

Tell us what blocks you have put in place this time will power alone won't do it

A great start Leah and great you have the support of you bf. The thing that leaps out at me is no mention of self excluding from the sites of putting blocking software in place. Close another door I wish you well and will try and help the best I can as will others
