Day 4

Thanks again S for the post, filling the time is definately helping me too. Just got back from work and all I could think of on the drive home is setting up another account and blitzing more money! Luckily the drive was long enough to think about the end result and that was enough to put me off.

Did a 55 mile bike ride yesterday and a load of jobs around the house which kept my mind off gambling.

Finding it hard at the moment, got to stay strong and keep the fight going.

Thanks for reading

James

Well done James I am urge free and no impulses approx. 3 months free I feel I have to come on here to advise the young it can turn in to a life time of Evil misery I am 51 and have wasted my life in a unhealthy interest that has been promoted and sponsored as on TV adds roulette and bingo etc. now even at football matches by a bar ! I had to take urgent action to defeat this evil .

Day 5

Thanks Dave and well done to you too. Glad your recovery is going well and that you are spending time to help others.

The advert thing is really annoying, you can't get away from it.

In work today but still had urges to gamble after work. Just about scraping through the urges at the moment, hoping that they aren't as strong as time goes on. For some reason I can't get the idea out my head that I can claw back dead by gambling, its ridiculous!

Onwards and upwards

James

Hi James

Well done on restarting your recovery your previous attempts show it can be done , it's a tough journey that we are making and there will be slips along the way the key is to keep fighting and never give up

Best wishes in your recovery

Day 6

Thanks for the support Castle2, I guess I can only learn from my mistakes and make sure it doesn't happen again.

No chance of me gambling today as I have no opportunity to. My big worry is going out tomorrow with the football being on combined with being drunk is not a good mix. It's going to be the biggest test since my last slip. Thinking of ways to take the opportunity out of my hands by only taking enough money for drinks and no cash card.

Will update over the weekend hopefully with more gamble free days

Thanks for reading

Day 1

Again, I couldn't seem to get past a week without gambling! What is happening to me! I just need to get over this massive mountain at the start, I know it gets a little easier as time goes on.

Well I managed not to bet on the footy which I was proud of myself for, but then got drunk and put a lot of money in to a fruit machine, I never would have thought a fruit machine would have been my downfall but it is a constant reminder that no gambling must be acceptable for me as I will take it to the extreme.

Although i'm still down, I'm still well up for the fight and going to take this slip as something to learn from.

Keep strong everyone, we can do this!

Hi James

It's good that your still here after a slip up.

Also good you never bet on the football so your in a better place already.

It will get easier mate , maybe do something else to take your mind off betting. I find watching a series helps.

Day 2

Thanks MBA, I'm quite an active person so filling time won't be a problem but do fancy getting in to a decent series.

Got paid today, although I got more for doing overtime, it's quite depressing to see it all swallowed up by debt repayments. I'm absolutely sick of this addiction, no more!

I think I'm going to have a little reward system for each month I can abstain. Maybe spare 50-100 to spend on myself if I can get through without betting. I did this last time and did find it helped.

Thanks for reading,

James

Hey james. 1500 of my wages a month go on debts and luckily the overtime I do gives me some spare cash.

Keep your spare cash to spend on yourself mate not them bookies

Day 4

Wow, thanks a lot everyone for all the posts, really appreciate the support.

Work keeping me busy and my mind off gambling at the moment. Went to the gym yesterday before work and got loads of chores done and felt good for it too. Much better than feeling drained, tired and hungry from a bout of gambling.

Got to really concentrate on living life to show myself how much better in everyway a gamble free life is.

Together we can beat this, thanks for reading and thanks for the support
