14 Aug will make 1 year free from gambling.

Thanks to JamesP and a number of participants who helped very much last summer.

Guard up.

(To clarify, the handle "dogfan" means I like my furry domestic companion. It has nothing to do with any gambling activities, including any that involve animals)

Good things happen as you live a normal non-gambling life. More prizes and wins than you'll ever get at a casino. More bright lights and shiny stuff.

1 day

(when I posted "3 days" at 0400 Tue, I was in a "Monday night" frame)

Thanks for the kind words all.

Suzanne, yes, it feels good, and I really want to emphasize that fact. Actually it's not the achievement level "I did one whole year" that feels good. It's life with the freedom and richness that was formerly taken away by the gambling parasite. For people who feel fearful or uncertain, and are just starting, I suggest they anticipate the recovery path as a really good time - - not a deprivation or a punishment, but a path that keeps throwing rewards at you.

Hi dogfan, you are correct it is not all about one year, it's also about the deceit, time lost, money, misery, depressive thoughts etc.

Well done and keep going, it is people like your good self which give the rest of us heart and courage.

Haha, I feel like I should bake a cake or something.

But seriously, folks, I've enjoyed re-visiting the forums here, and once again benefited from the words and thoughts of the contributors. Time permitting, later today I will compose some remarks in hopes of helping others. I'll post them on the 'overcoming problem gambling' section rather than the 'diaries'.
