Well it’s day 9 now and things are looking up , I was paid on Wednesday and it’s now Friday ! I had a tiny think about a bet yesterday but went and did half hour exercise instead . Double figures tomorrow and I wil keep this up , I have never been so focused on the goal . I know how bad I had this addiction and couldn’t think of anything else at times , I have put my life into perspective and can finally put this to bed and move on .Β
lots to look forward to and each day gamble free is a move away from the horrific past we have all been in .

thanks for reading and please let’s all stay focused and keep goingΒ

Well done, and keep it up.

It is not about how often you fall that counts, however, it how often you get up.

Xoi

Stay sane, safe, calm and take one day at a timeΒ

Thanks everyone for your support it really does mean a lot! Day 10 now and I’m feeling confident, I have watched so much sports over the past few days and never felt the urge to have a bet . I will not become complacent though and will keep going , taking each day as it comes is the only way to get through this .

Keep strong Tom.. I'm on Day 21 and you on Day 12. If you're 9 days behind me forever then job done!Β

One day at a time. Just for today, don't gamble.Β

Thanks Roch your doing amazing! Day 17 now and counting! It’s been a good start but that’s all it is , I am conscious I have slipped several times before and understand things can come tumbling down if I’m not careful . I’m enjoying watching all the sport and so far I’m 17 days without losing a penny! I have many friends who talk about betting and all screenshot bets etc but I am giving that no attention and just switch off from any gambling talk and just concentrating on myself and the hard work I have ahead .Β
keep going everyone and thank you for reading my story .

Well done, Tomh.

It would have been easy to ignore it but you've confronted it head on. Like you say, you can do it. Take advantage of all the help you get here and tick off the days.

Tomh - I have the same issue with friends sending me screenshots and talking about their accas etc. My trick is to just to turn off notifications and ignore my phone as much as possible, particularly on Saturdays - and particularly between 3pm and 5pm.

Another tip I find works for me - for games that I know will trigger me - is to watch the full game but delayed...so, if you have Sky/BT..record it and watch the full thing later, or wait for Match of the Day if you're less bothered.

For me though, the absolute game changer has been my bank not allowing me to deposit into bookmaker accounts.

I'll be honest, when I've self excluded from individual bookmaker websites before, it doesn't do anything for me, because the monkey on my back sees it as audicious ("I earn my own money, how dare I be told I can't spend it on what I want") and then a challenge ("Well I'll just find another site").

But blocking your debt card via your bank is totally different because you know it hits the problem at the source. If you're able to do it, I'd encourage it.

Good morning !Β
well it’s the weekend and I’m 30 days gamble free today ????, I would never ever had thought I could go 3 days never mind 30 ! I know this is the start and it is a long road but I’m so proud to have done 30 days . If anyone is reading this and does not believe they can make a start please believe me I was in a terrible place . Everyday spending everything I had , desperate to lend money etc , I am in an IVA due to gambling and really have been rock bottom . 30 days and counting , my life is by no means perfect but I have made a start and it really does feel like it’s going in the right direction .Β
hope you enjoy reading my story and let’s keep positive , it really is a tough journey but we can do it!Β

It's great to hear from you Tom and delighted you've hit the 30 day milestone!Β  With you all the way, shoulder to shoulder. One day at a time, always. Jus for today there is absolutely no point, in gambling 1p or more. We have better things to do, frankly!

Keep it going πŸ™‚Β

Hey Tom, I hope you're keeping well and doing your best to tame this gambling dragon.Β  They'll never be any judgements from me; if you have relapsed you're welcome to share and we can look into what you can do better for next time.Β  And if you're keeping on track, that's great.Β

But I always keep it real.Β  This isn't a 'game'; it's all about having a future that's worth having, rather than the alternative. Always here, my friend πŸ™‚ !

not been on here for a while and maybe should have been! I have spent Β£100 in the past 2 days on gambling and although it’s not a huge amount I am annoyed with myself and I should have come on here and shared my thoughts and read stories instead of just thinking I can do what I like wth control , I have no control and that is why I’m on here and that is why I need to make sure I neve ever ever gamble again in any way . I need to get over this, over 80 days feels wasted and now I start a fresh . Day 1 again ☹️
