Hi Phil,

Glad you had a good holiday and were able to make progress with the wife. I would love to go Switzerland! Looks like a lovely country.

I'm doing fantasy football this year, doing rubbish already! If it's going to cause problems with the wife it might be worth leaving it this year and showing that you have the self discipline to stop whatever you want. When I first gave up gambling, I thought buying a scratch card every now and then was normal and nothing to do with my gambling addiction, but this was my downfall as it got me thinking about winning again.

Just something to consider. Your doing amazing anyway, keep up the good work

Thanks LF, Lisa, Sandra, Irene and Jimbo, so nice to get your messages of support.....

Think day 92, and the trend is still improving, the fantasy football issue still remains one, but asides from that my relationship with my wife is so much better, she put her neck out this week so not great but we are closer. Work desperately quiet so trying to fill gaps at work, and in my own time really trying to step up the exercise, all in all feeling quite good.

Stay strong everyone, and well done for all your own efforts!!

Phil

Hi Phil,

Well done on the 92 days mate really good going. I had a similar problem with the football at work they got a stake for the dream team and I thought I could talk myself into being a part of it cus it goes on for so long. But my wife was totally against it and I am glad because it made me realise that ye if I did the dream team it is technically a gamble putting in 25 quid for a chance to win over a 100 quid so I am just glad I came to my sense and said no and they all understand at work. A couple of people were like just do it. But they don't understand that if I did and I won that cud trigger me off next year to going straight back into gambling. I think the only way to really stop gambling is to stop all forms of gambling and that is what I have done.

Also like yourself my fitness is become a big thing and I am concentrating on it more and going to GA every Thursday.

Well glad to hear things are good with your wife mate. Keep busy and stay strong.

Ricky

Hi Phil,

Thanks again for your post on my diary! Kind words like this have got me to the stage i'm at.

If your wanting to get back in to exercise, get a bike! Best sense of fulfilment ever in my opinion. Gets you fit and takes you to the nicest parts of the country,

Take care mate, stay happy

Thanks Sandra and Jimbo,

yes still around and using the chat when I am free, as opposed to using pretty much all the time to instill some discipline, I have the discipline now, so just topping up and keeping up with all my friends.

Well what the last week has told me is that my wife is still very fragile, she still questions a lot of what I do, but I think it is getting easier all the time. I still have urges, but the one thing that I do know is that if I gamble I will lose more money than I can afford to lose, and it is not safe for me to gamble again, I know that so will adhere to!!!!

Health kick coming on strong, still smoking like a chimney but cutting back on indulgent food and stepping up the exercise, and feeling great with it!!

take care everyone and have a great week

Phil

You are doing great 🙂

I'm sure as time passes, Mrs Phil will learn that you are in this for the long haul and things'll improve.

Glad to hear about the "health kick" every wee bit counts!

hey Phil,

Wow mr Phil start more healthy activities:) Fantastic my friend!

I really believe your wife is coming to terms to realize you taking your recovery on really seriously. It will take time to get trust back, but if you carry on as you do now, you will be rewarded happiness and peace with yourself!

I'm proud of you:)

Heading to 100 days....well done, time just fly by when you set yourself free

Day at a time

thanks Sandra, all good with me, been quite lazy with my diary, but if I am being completely honest things are going quite well for me. Don't really get urges anymore and have been too busy fitting in time to go for a run or doing something useful about the house, which is going down quite well. Reckon I must have lost a stone in weight and starting to feel better about my shape (it never really annoyed me too much, but I have let myself go) and planning what things I can start doing when I reach my fitness goals.

It has only been the last few days that I have realised how little gambling enters my thoughts, I still check sport and watch what I can but no thoughts to gamble. My wife is slowly coming around but as a family we are all having a lot more fun.

I hope that all my good friends are well and staying strong. I will occasionally be on the chat when I get some spare time and I hope you all have a good week.

Phil
