Hi Craig , it's going well for you well done. Keep your guard up don't let the addiction close, and then it's easier to push back any urges. You will get tested at some stage that's when the determination to stay gamble free will kick in, I'm not getting tested as often but I know I will again as it's the nature of addiction. Then I'll use my 6 months to dig deep and get past it. Keep going Craig

Day 144, feeling proud reflecting on how far I’ve come while am lying here in bed absolutely freezing. Still early on my journey, but the days of any urges are long behind me and am enjoying this stress free path of no gambling. No gambling = a much happier life, sleeping much better as a result of it. I must admit this last week I’ve found it incredibly hard to come on this site due to all the negativity am reading, people slagging other people off, blaming people, blaming admins, blaming everybody but themselves. This is meant to be a support network for people trying to overcome gambling not an aggressive Jeremy Kyle forum.

Dear @craig724,

Please never feel like you can't come on here. This is what we admins are here for - to keep this space safe for everyone. But we also understand that anger is part of the recovery process so we are trying to be mindful with our edits and moderations.

Huge congratulations on your 144 days gamble free, you are doing so well! It also sounds like you are putting the work in and are learning along the way. This all helps to solidify what you have achieved so far.

Wishing you all the very best,

Eva

Definitely Charlieboy, that old saying of only one bet away from disaster is true with all us recovering gamblers.

Thanks Eva, fortunately for me it’s not effecting me mentally not coming onto the forum, it’s just making me not want to visit the site as much

5 months free and clean of Gambling today, incredibly proud. Feeling strong still zero urges and thoughts. 3rd longest time without gambling in 14 years if memory serves me right. Long way to go but I will not gamble ever again.

In other news, doesn’t seem to be as much negative poison on this website from members in the last week or so,  so all good

Day 171 I believe & my final post on this website.
My life has changed a lot since I registered on this site in July 2020, certainly changed for the better.

But New year same old forum

I've decided to make this my final post, and unlike many others I won’t be returning after two mins.  This site has helped me a lot reading people’s stories, finding different ways to cope, hearing brilliant success stories  etc but there is far too much negativity on it now, members playing the victim throwing their dummy’s out of the pram every 5mins threatening to leave blah blah. I find myself now reading certain people’s posts wanting to tell them to get a grip and stop playing the victim just because somebody tells them some truth, the whole website revolves round a few people and anything they don’t agree with all hell breaks loose, if people generally make you unhappy on this site I don’t get why you’d stick around.

Want to thank the forum staff for the hard work they do, you guys honestly must feel like babysitters sometimes.
Also like to thank Charlieboy for your continued support you really are on of the good ones, good luck on your journey.

For everyone that is genuinely trying to quit gambling I wish you all the best, stay strong you can all do it.

Heres to a healthy and gamble free 2021 ✌️

@craig724 Hi Craig. I understand your frustration but felt the need to offer some experience. If this platform is helping you, please continue with using it. It's easy to get complacent and start looking at others as an excuse to stop the thing that helps, and not straight away, but a few week down the line you find yourself relapsing. Relapses don't start straight away, they normally start a little while beforehand, and my worry for you is exactly that.

In GA in the Orange book there is a list of Just for todays. The one that stands out for me for you is this one.

Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticise not one bit, not find fault with anything, and not try to improve or regulate anybody but myself.

See if you can find the good on the site and the thing that have helped you and keep going.

Chris.

Hi craig, I do understand how you feel. One of the main problems seems to be things settle down and then someone feels the need to stir again and it is frustrating. Thank you for your kind comment I hope you do continue to read ,post keep yourself in the moment. Should you decide to leave I understand and I hope that you carry on your gamble free journey. Just remember we are here if you struggle don't let the addiction creep closer to you. All the best
