Thanks for coming back. I remember you from the beginning and it's good that you give people such as myself a taste of such a long gamble-free life. I'm 13 months in now, still having pangs, but life is definitely better on the other side of the ropes
**edit** actually, not from the beginning. I've just reread your diary, and I started in 2011. Weren't you SirgambleAlot at one stage?? Or am I imagining it??
Hi milkman,
Yes, I changed my name to sirgambleNot once I had gone a full year gamble-free. Still going strong 🙂
Congratulations on your 13 months, that's brilliant - keep it going!

Just read the whole of your diary....
WOW
good on you mate, good on you!!
🙂
SGN, fantastic read. Really inspirational reading through your diary. Keep up the good work.
Really heartfelt thanks to everyone for your posts.
I'm very touched that my recovery diary has served as an inspiration for others - that's a positive outcome from this whole experience and I'm grateful to Gamcare for providing the platform for my ramblings! It inspires me in turn to keep posting on here occasionally.
I'm still gamble-free and up to my third anniversary at work now. Oldhamktf, I'm not quite 27 yet but will be soon!
I am going on another big annual holiday next week so that's very exciting! I mentioned early on in my diary that I had a pipe dream to run a marathon one day. Well, I finally did it last month and raised over £1500 for charity thanks to the generosity of friends, family and work colleagues!
Apart from the odd big holiday, I'm saving up now hoping to fly the nest and get on the property ladder.
I wish you all the best in your recoveries; this community is a good place to be to find support.
Do yourself proud,
SGN

Thanks hopeful soul,
I'm till going strong; I have a very active social life now too, being out most evenings and weekends.
Thanks to everyone for your support and words of encouragement.
Keep at it,
SGN
Had my head turned somewhat the other day by one of those shouty "Look at me!" betting adverts that come on the telly during sporting events.
Reminds me to be ever vigilant and not to take the gamble-free situation for granted.
Still going strong, thanks for all your support.
SGN
Coming up towards 7 years gamble-free now but I still remember what it was like, or more specifically what I was like, at the time, so I'm not taking anything for granted.
Thanks to GamCare and this community for being a safe outlet for me as I've still never told anyone outside of this forum about my gambling problem.
Keep well and look after each other,
SGN
