Well done Sir!
Day 88: no gambling today.
Day 89: no gambling today.
Just 11 more days to go until your next milestone!
GT
I am glad to have completed my first month of this calendar year without having placed a bet. I hope to continue in the same vein of unrelenting-abstinence this month. There are 29 days to get through in February because 2012 is a leap year. Still, the extra day just adds to challenge!
well done on completing 90 days pellekanin.
Thats a real milestone at g.a
keep up the good work.
I have just reviewed January in terms of money saved through cycling to work rather than taking the tube. I managed to cycle to and from work on 10 days during the month, which means a saving of £54. If I do not cycle to work it costs me £5.40 per day (£2.70 each way) and I do not get any exercise so it is certainly worth the effort - even on these freezing cold days! I hope to save even more during February.
Good for you...but doesn't the increased exercise mean that you need more food, thus increasing that budget? Not to mention wear-and-tear on the tyres and brakes...
congratulations on 90 days!
Day 90: no gambling today.
Exercise does mean I need more food, but the point is that without cycling I would not exercise at all and would become fat and unhealthy. I dislike running and I do not want to pay for an expensive London gym membership. Instead, I choose to cycle to work as often as possible. The cycle ride is quite pleasant and takes me around Regent's Park. It is also quicker door-to-door than taking the tube. The cost of cycle maintenance is about £100-150 per year and this is offset by the savings in tube fares. Even though I only saved £54 in January, I took annual leave at the start of the month so did not need to go to work at all until 10th January. If I am committed, I can save around £100 per month by cycling to work every day. That is over £1,000 per year and is money I cannot afford not to save. I have credit card bills, loan repayments and utility bills coming out of my ears at the moment. I cannot wait to clear my debts once and for all.
Having paid my HMRC National Insurance bill, I have now received substantial electricity and gas bills, which need to be paid by the end of next week. An annual water bill is due imminently so this month is going to be very tight. I am already substantially overdrawn. Still, everything would be worse if I returned to gambling.
Day 91: no gambling today.
We dug ourselves a financial hole with a shovel; now, we're filling it in with a teaspoon. Still, better than carrying on gambling
Day 92: no gambling today.
I went to see The Artist at the cinema last night with my wife and a friend. It is a good film - black/white and silent - and I would recommend it to anyone. This evening featured a trip to the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank for an orchestral concert, which was good. It is now snowing heavily in London and settling on the already-frozen ground. If this weather lasts until Monday, I may get a day off from work if the office is closed. One can live in hope!
