The honour of congratulating you on the completetion of your first 100 days is mine!

I've followed your diary from the start and it's mirrored mine in many ways. I felt the pain when you blipped (only 5 day after me) and I nodded as you did your calculations as to how to save mere pennies, when we've been used to pi55ing thousands against the wall.

Soon we're both to be fathers - me again, you for the first time - and we both know that gambling has no place in our new world.

Good luck, Pelle, and keep posting.

Thank you for your support. However, I still need to get through today - and Saturdays are always risky - before I can say that I have actually completed 100 days without gambling. I am going to keep strong today. I heard on the news that National Hunt horse racing is taking place at Musselburgh this afternoon, having escaped the ice and snow. I shall be on my guard because I am with my parents this weekend and I am not self-excluded from any bookmakers in my home town (where my betting problem first started as a schoolboy). Still, I do not want to throw all my hard work away so I promise that today will be a gamble-free day. Good luck everyone!

I have just read Baljit's attempt at a 'recovery diary'. What a ridiculous waste of time and space. He has taken no advice, has participated in no meaningful discourse and is clearly not bothered about trying to stop himself from gambling. It sounds like he is trying to take everyone for a ride, which is grossly unfair. If the GamCare staff actually read these diaries in any detail then this 'recovery diary' would have been deleted ages ago. Perhaps the new forum protocol regarding 'not writing whole entries in BLOCK CAPITALS' will result in Baljit having his mandate to post on this forum permanently withdrawn. I certainly hope so as his 'recovery diary' is nothing but a nuisance and a nonsense in my opinion.

A HUGE HIGH FIVE on 100 whole days of gamble free!

Well done.

Just think how you felt 100 days ago and how you feel now.

Now go for 200!

Just a mm 20 hours a week. Have another, better-paid job but only 6 hour a week at present. It is increasing, however, and so are my earnings (other job pays 4x/hour more than mm).

well done for holding out the weekend!

Apart from making an apple crumble this afternoon, I have spent some time reading a book about babies. I am really quite worried about the next few weeks: labour, getting to and from the hospital, childbirth, possible-complications, adjusting to parenthood etc, etc. For now, I am going to try to forget about it and enjoy dinner at a friend's house in West Kensington. Gambling could not be further from my mind.

Strange - it says you wrote on my diary at 18:37, but there's nothing there.

Having got through 100 days without gambling, I can certainly say that I feel much better than I did three months ago. Credit card, loan and overdraft debts are still hanging around my neck, but they are reducing each month. I have stopped thinking about horse racing - it used to be on my mind all day from morning to night - and I have stopped worrying about money as much as I did. I am apprehensive about fatherhood, but am hoping that my wife gives birth to a healthy baby and that there are not any complications during the birth itself. The next few weeks and months are going to be life-changing, and I want to make the most of every minute of them. I cannot imagine anything worse than bringing a new-born baby home from hospital and trying to place bets on the horses at the same time. Once my baby is at home, I shall give it all of my love and care along with my wife. I cannot afford - emotionally, financially or physically - to start gambling again. Horse racing, gambling and the stress it brings took over my life last year. It must not happen again because there are much more important things in life than running in and out of bookmakers or throwing away thousands of pounds on the B**5 website. Right, back to work!

Hi P

Life changing is an understatement. It will make you the proudest man alive, and enjoy every minute of it. We have a 5 year old who is everything to me but I still went gambling even though I vowed to my new born. You stay tough over the next few months your new born and partner are depending on you. No pressure then! Take care mate and hope everything goes well.

Spent £60 at the dentist earlier and need to go back in early April for another check-up and a possible wisdom-tooth removal operation. Not good and I cannot really afford it, but is there such a thing as an NHS dentist these days?
