Day 98

Cheers Castle, glad my post helped a bit.

Am having another good day. Ive run a road race today with my mate for work. I ran 5 miles in 39 minutes and 13 seconds, not bad for a veteran which i now officially am.. not that i feel like a veteran. My mate who's 18 years younger than me did it in 37.54.. so i wasn't far behind. Not that its a competition of course! 🙂

I then went on to have a steady 10 mile run and enjoyed every second of it. Bring on the marathon!! 🙂

No gambling problems, and thanks for listening... S.A 🙂

Wow...thats some going today SA...and I love how you then just do a 10 miler for fun afterwards...lol

I drive to the post box!

Also having a relaxing day today...no cleaning as I tided up my friends house yesterday and now she can't find anything..lol

Hope you have got some decent running shoes so you don't get joint pain...years ago new balance were all the rage but I guess the science of the running shoe has moved on since then,...shock absorber soles and all especially if your on hard ground all the time.

Still building up to a one mile run next week...lol...the seed is planted and I have the right clobber...knowing me I shall drive round to the coffee shop and sit with all the gear on with a hot chocolate...lol

SA, sounds like you are in a good stable frame of mind at the minute. I can totally relate to your comment about prefering Salmon over Tuna, but buying Tuna. At the same time, you will think nothing of blowing the price of 100 tins of Salmon in an hour or so when gambling...Madness!

I was the very same and like to make a chicken curry but ended up buying Pork Chops because I saved a few quid for my gambling fund! Crazy and 10 days ago (my last big splurge, although not my final bet) I wasted enough money to buy over 800 chicken fillets - could feed an army with that amount of food!! Craziness

Anyway, i'm proud to be a part of what you are achieving, no bet for today and you will be a little closer to the life you deserve.

Take Care mate

Blues

Sa.

Fella a big thanks for your kind words, ones i find overwhelming. I watched a mark knoppler documentary yesterday and he spoke of not being worthy of playing a bespoke guitar, a feeling i share often when i read my thread.

Well done on your run time, glad to see your still taking pleasure and i share with you your feelings on others struggling providing others a form of medication.

The lid is certainly off the bottle fella and although a bitter pill to taste lets keep taking it!!

Finally as for the salmon you can keep it lol i always feel like my portion is 90%bone lol. Where tuna i love it. Have it as a pure luxury mind i buy the steak in a tin, the dry packed one and it only needs the hallowed salad cream!!! Mayonaise you can keep it lol. Oh and add to that list the best thing in a tin corner beef!!!

I hope none of my junior chefs read this lol, but as i often say the folk who make the rolls royce don't all drive one!!

Keep up the great work. Centurian tomorrow for you.

Anyhow must go before i wax lyrical about sandwich spread lol.

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Day 99

Thanks for your thoughts you lovley people 🙂

Am feeling a tad stressed about money today. I always do when i shell out a bunch of £'s for this that and the other in a short space of time. Life is like an endless round of paying rent and bills and other stuff and then god forbid if ya actually want to go somewhere and do something and it costs ya the earth to get there... £75 to go by train to get down south,.. the trains are getting beyond a joke.. thank god for the coach, half the price.

But like we all say, its all relative. I never thought twice about putting £100 into a machine chassing a £70 jackpot or playing £2 a spin chassing a £500 jackpot and loosing £300 in no time at all and the only reason i stopped there was because the cash point said no.

I don't do that anymore. I am responsible for myself and i no longer fritter my meagre earnings away by gambling. I deserve better for myself and i am getting better. Thanks for listening... S.A 🙂

Once again the sun came up today and now its gone down again.

Hey there SA...

Party on ! Yeeee haa. Could do with a knees up at some point as even bailed on my works xmas doo...

Tell me about the trains...blummin expensive ...always figured you were already down south but guessing london ish to the coast is still south eh?

I can understand the rotation of bills etc...but as you say it's better than the toss and spin ...and also you know you don't have the fear of chasing back...

Earning back not chasing back feels better .depsite my own heavy outgoings I get satisfaction in paying my way on time ...in the day of cheques I even used to draw big hearts on the back of them ..just to make bill paying a bit more fun .

Sa

my good fellow a massive well done on marching through the 100 gamble free days. You attitude toward recovery is outstanding and i can see it serves you well. I feel honoured you share your journey as it is truly inspiring, there is without doubt for us the compulsive gambler a better life to be had through abstinence.

I doff my cap to you.

Duncs stepping forward never back.

S.A.

I have read through large parts of your diary today and I must say your never-say-die attitude towards your recovery is absolutely first class. Your story is very interesting. I am glad to see you have very recently passed the 100 day landmark and I wish you well for the future.

Tomso.
