I’m a 24 year old female gambler. I am a big gambler for horses, love the sport and thought I loved the gambling. For the past 3 years I have made lots of money and lost so much! The past few months i knew I was spending to much money and time on online betting sites. So I started to take time out for a month etc.. but as soon as my time was up I would bet hundreds again... today I lost €500. And I’ve put a permanent ban on my betting account. Today’s lost was different I feel horrible and disappointed in myself, I have been working really hard 48-60 hours a week and saving a lot of money, but now I’m getting more and more of an urge to gamble even on the virtual races. It’s becoming a on going problem now and I just want the help I need to stop as I’m moving in with my girlfriends mams to save for a mortgage. She thinks I have stopped. We arnt going to the banks straight away for a joint savings account for the mortgage so I need to clear out the next few months from all the bets before we do. I feel awful as I feel it’s gonna affect us big time and she has no clue.

Sounds similar to me except not horses and virtual ones for me but football and virtual football. When mine all first come out 4 years ago I didn’t tell anyone but my now fiancée could sense something was up and ended up going on my online banking behind my back to discover the horrible truth. I was actually mad she went on my banking but looking back I was just mad she found it all out.

It was the BEST thing that could of happened though , I was in thousands of debt when she found out, I thought she was gonna dump my a*s there and then but she didn’t.

afer a couple weeks she told my parents even though I was dead against it.

financially they helped me get back on track, Amanda suggested I go hypnotherapy which I was against again and took six appointments before I had courage to go.

that all helped change my life even though admittedly I’ve had plenty relapses the most recent now a week ago as I’m only fresh into stopping again.

telling someone lifts a weight. Even though I didn’t actually tell anyone she just found out that alone made me feel 1000x better.

it can be done, you can turn it around.

good luck!
