Thank you for posting on my diary Murlo.

Salsa was fun and it is a very good form of exercise.

As you advised, I treated my tootsies to a session in the De Lux Foot Spa. They were extremely pleased and both of them send you their love and best wishes.

Stephen x

Morning,

I am still full of beans so it wasn’t so easy to get much in the way of sleep. I have been out for an early morning brisk walk and it is just a bit chilly out there ?

When the rest of the world wakes up I will find something useful to do with my energy.

Dear diary. Day 108 gamble free.

Mid way update today as I am heading home soon and going out with our neighbours tonight, they are a good choice of company as they know everything there is to know about me. My pal is definitely coming home tomorrow so she wants me to b***er off, take some time out and have a good time. I know to not ignore her instructions....

I am just a bit nervous and edgy today. I suspect that is what is giving me the energy. One of the ward nurses said I am T-Wired, tired and wired. Maybe so. I have been shopping for a few bits and pieces that I know I will need over the next few weeks for my friend. It has been a bit of a hard thing to do because it brought back memories of when I cared for my dad at home at the end of his life. The baby toothbrush was the thing that really did it for me. Thank the Lord for self service checkouts.

Everything is in place for her homecoming now, equipment and hospice at home team etc. Plenty of support to call on if we need it. I am very lucky really because I have a lot of people I can just pick up the phone to because of my job. Not everyone has that.

So time to head off, scrub myself up and relax in good company with a few drinks.

Home sweet home. I was reminded before we left the ward not to count the days but to make the days count. That is relevant in so many ways.

Dear diary. Day 109 gamble free.

Today feels like the beginning of a new chapter. I am not sure how long it is going to last and right now I am not giving much thought to that. The most important thing is that my friend is home and I can see that it means so much to her. She has been busy doing a couple of watercolours and pastel sketches this afternoon. She is a seriously talented artist. Everything feels like it is right at the mo, just normal and natural. It is hard to explain but I would say there is a certain serenity. I have even settled down a bit in terms of my excess energy.

It is nice to be able to talk as and when we want to and not worry if we don't. It's different in hospital, you kind of feel obliged to keep talking about stuff (at least I do) even when there is nothing to say. She tells me that for the most part, when she looked asleep she wasn't, she just wanted me to bloody shut up! Normally she wouldn't hold back on telling me but she thought I was a touch vulnerable at the time. Anyway, she is back to bossing me around, cracking jokes and giving me lectures about my own life. I like that ?

Tonight I am going to enjoy spending time with and paying attention to my hubby. Reality is he has even more to deal with than me and we haven't had much time together in the last week. Time to make him a special meal I think.

I have no urge to gamble, no feeling of crisis or impending doom. Hospice at home team popping round soon to introduce themselves and we have a trip to try on some wigs tomorrow. That'll be fun ?
