I have been reading through some of the posts on this forum and I have noticed that some of you feel like you cannot change your gambling habits or overcome your addiction. I want to tell you that you are capable of change. As the saying goes, "If you think you can do it, you're right. If you think you can't do it, you're also right."
It all starts with your mindset. If you truly believe that you can change and get better, then you will. But if you continue to believe that you are powerless and cannot overcome your addiction, then you will continue to struggle.
I urge you to look in the mirror and make a plan of action. Decide that you will get better and commit to staying the course. It won't be easy, but it is possible. Set achievable goals for yourself - aim to make progress in 6 months, a year, or even longer. But make sure that you have a plan in place and take action towards your goals.
As someone who has struggled with impulse control in the past, I understand how difficult it can be to make a plan and stick to it. But I also know that without plans, there are no outcomes. So take the first step and make a plan. You owe it to yourself and to those who care about you to stay the course, get better, and pay it forward.
Remember, change is possible. It all starts with your mindset and a willingness to take action. Now find a counsellor here who can show you the first steps.
I wish you well

Well written c43h ?
@c43h great post. It spoke to me.
I don't want to be 'in' recovery the rest of my life I want to be 'recovered'.
For me, my ultimate goal isn't just not gambling, it is more than that... It is not having the issue.
You are correct that having a plan is crucial. And making an agreement with yourself to see it through is essential. A promise to someone else isn't good enough. Only YOU can make the change for yourself.
Affected by gambling?
