Thanks for the posts Phil, suzanne and tm.

Had a good day yesterday, work then a trip to the zoo, slightly marred with a sickness bug 2nite tho.
Keeping busy, blocks in place, taking the next couple of weeks a day at a time.
I cannot win because I can't stop.

Day 94 - still plodding along a day at a time.
Countdown to 100.
Still very quiet at work, it's like our town has slipped back into recession;started to consider a job change.

just for today I shall not gamble

Keep up the good work trigger, I'm on day 2 today, iv read all your posts and like all the good people on here, we are all in this together, I have excluded myself from all betting sites, I have the self exclude forms from my 3 local bookies, all your posts give me strength that I can win this battle, been gambling far too long, and lost a fortune!!!! Keep your strong mindset, and bring on the 100 day mild stone, all the best to everyone on here, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

Thanks taxi man and shamrock for your posts.
Day 1 for me,but it's the best and easiest day 1 I've encountered.
I've been dealing with a severe urge for a while and yesterday I gave in.
I'm gutted not to have reached 100.
The blocks I've got prevented any damage being done, little money was lost but it changed my whole attitude, outlook, mood.
It was a reminder,I'm glad it's out of my system, feel a lot calmer now.
Lesson 1 learnt- I cannot have access to any substantial money/credit.Once my remaining 2 cards are paid- cancel.
Cv2 erased on my debit card saved me last night.

Lesson 2 - Having an on line account is fatal.
Having just a bet on a horse/footy is impossible for me,too many opportunities in between.

Lesson 3 - KEEP THE BLOCKS IN PLACE.
You cant win cos you can't stop.
always remember that.

I'm very upbeat. 1 day gambling out of 96.
Just for today I shall not gamble

Hi trigger,

As you say I day out of 96 is a blip, you have come too far n your recovery now,

You have learnt from this, and you know what to do and what not do do now, temptation to see what it was like again, is now done and dusted. You know you cannot GAMBLE because you cannot STOP.

Keep upbeat and just carry on because you are soo worth it.

Take care and keep upbeat (that is important) else no lesson will have been learnt.

Suzanne xx

Day 1.
Learnt a lot the past 9 days or so,after 96 days I went back to the angry, stressed miserable man I've been in the past.

Once I gambled;won -lost then chased I found it virtually impossible to control my emotions.
Each gamble became a matter of life and death.
My kids become a inconvenience,I haven't hardly spoke to my partner, all that mattered was recouping my latest losses.

The previous 96 days weren't perfect, but I gained self respect,I was at ease with myself.
I planned for the future.
Life was not on the edge.

I've contacted every single bookmaker I trust, every account I've owned is permanently self excluded.
Pay day 2mo,midnight I'm transferring funds out of my hands.

It's roller coaster recovery,I'm reluctant to say it's day 1,I prefer day 103.
Just for today I shall not gamble.

Trigger thanks for coming back and posting as this demonstrates how gambling can creep up on you and bite you on the b**t.

I have 40 days under my belt and feel great but your recent slip reminds me to stay vigilant.

96 days was a wonderful effort and can only dream about reaching such a total. So i wish you strength on your recovery and hope you get back in the saddle and reap the rewards that non gambling brings.

Stay strong

Day 2.
Paid wages to my partners account.
Back to basic,a day at a time it works.
I've got to constantly put blocks in place,it's scary how I lose the plot after that initial gamble,it's like a freight train, unstoppable.

I'm going to be strong today, just for today I shall not gamble

Well done for coming back trigger you've done it before you can do it again. It does serve as a reminder that these things can creep up on you at any moment so thanks for posting.

well done for coming straight back on here and knowing what gambling leads to family wise as well as financially , I too seem distant when I'm gambling , the kids, the wife there all talking but I'm just nodding not actually taking in what there saying ,I'm focused purely on the bet . Which actually hurts more than the lost money, I'm just over 40 days in and doing okayish but yours and other peoples honest posts on there diaries make us know that we have to keep our guard up no matter how well we think we're doing , thanks for posting trigger and all the best stepping forward one day at a time and you'll be near the 100 day mark again .

Thanks Pk,tm and nt for your belief and support.

Day 4 today, yesterday was hard,I broke the triangle;I put what spare cash I had in my partners account and made sure I was unable to travel anywhere in order to punt.

Spent the day as I should being a good dad.

Getting back the mindset, you can't win cos you can't stop,no point in chasing.
