Hi suzanne

Can you imagine a year ago even contemplating saying i cant wait to get this anniversary of being gamble free out of the way!

Fantastic achievement and i hope you have many more anniversaries to celebrate.

I hope you continue to help and support on here as its easy to walk away when you have so much gf time under your belt and another life which we didnt know existed takes most of your time...how did we ever have time to gamble!!!!

Big pat on the back

Stay strong

Suzanne

Welcome to a minority club,a great deal of folk don't get to a years continued abstinence and I predict less on their first attempt at recovery, the hard work I believe now begins, through bitter experience I know what complacency did to my recovery, I gifted 18 months continued abstinence back to addiction, I know how hard it was to face up to being honest with myself that addiction had bided it's time and was rewarded for doing so.

You have come a great distance in a short time period, enjoy the fruits of your efforts, watch those seeds grow.

As my shiny friend often wrote

Never give up on giving up.

I applaud your post today, as the choice made is of great consequence.

Abstain and maintain

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Castle, Graeme(boro) it's lovely to hear from you both and I feel honoured that you have took the time out to send me lovely messages. I truly hope you are both well, staying strong and keeping safexxxx

Good morning diary.

367 days of winning in every way.

To be honest I kept reading the comments to me on my diary and on the challenge thread last night and felt quite overwhelmed and emotional, I was lost for words (yes lol for once). Good news for Phil he is getting early check ins lol).

Seriously the support I have had from day one on here has been totally amazing, this is what this forum is about, and what makes it unique, if any newcomer thinks this forum is not genuine I am living proof that it certainly is.

People that don't post hardly any more have taken time out to wish me well, all I can say again is this forum is amazing.

The veterans Duncs, Dan, Mr Brightside, to say a few have taught me so much about myself, my recovery, these guys were long time punters and I would be stupid not to take and continue to take everything on board that they post.

One thing I would like to add after one year of being gamble free is there are no benefits whatsoever to be had/made by staying active, but if I had not become a CG ( bearing in mind like most CGs I have a very compulsive nature) I would never have learnt so much about myself and my compulsions had I not gone down the CG path, so I am taking one big positive from being a CG (if that makes sense) I have learnt so much about myself, that I never would have if I had not of gambled, ( me with my positives lol) but I have even turned my self destructive gambling into a positive now HDs.

I gather from the vets lol, that my journey now will get tougher, so I will finish my post with choice made today.

Abstaining and maintaining one day at a time as always and keeping one step ahead.

Thank you all again for the lovely messages they are very much appreciated and they do mean a lot to me.

Wishing everyone a strong, determined and happy gambling free day.

Suzanne xx

Hi Suzanne,

MASSIVE WELL DONE TO YOU!!!!

A whole year gamble free is absolutely amazing, such a hard achievement but thoroughly deserved. It's no wonder you've done so well with the amount of comittment you've shown but also taking a lot of time to help and encourage others.

Really pleased for you

Kind regards

James

Sorry I missed the exact date of your one year anniversary - I hadn't posted (or read) for a few days.

But 'WELL DONE' - I wonder how many get to a year on here, not everyone, you shoould be very proud of yourself.

You are very supportive of other people and it is appreciated

Welcome back mba xx

Good afternoon diary,

368 days of starving the addiction and winning in every way.

No time to check in earlier as I had a hospital appointment at 8.30 in Leeds, my chesty cough and cold, won't go away, so I had a chest X-ray earlier in the week after work, and they phoned me and got me straight in for a CT scan this morning, ( have to say I don't do hospitals and Drs but the lovely service I received on both occasions was very reassuring and no waiting ).lol.

I think it's a viral infection but best to get it checked out, as my cough and runny nose has become really annoying to say the least lol. Never mind my poor chest.

Abstaining and maintaining can make you run down, cos it's not easy lol, but recovery has not run me down like gambling did, I was too wrapped up 100% to gambling, that I did not see how much it was affecting my health, never mind state of mind.

Picking my LM up shortly for the afternoon, treat time for him, because I can, because I have money in my purse, and this is simply because of the choice I make every single day, Abstaining and maintaining.

Wishing everyone a strong, calm and happy gambling free Friday.

Suzanne xx
