Evening captain,

9 days without a bet. Well done mate. I can see this is torture for you though!

Some people do have the ability to gamble responsibly mate but i doubt you will find any on here! I could have had one bet at the weekend and won £400-£600 depending upon what price i took. I guarantee you though that i would have done the winnings in quickly thereafter. Not to mention the original stake.

I suspect you are like me Captain or else you would not be here in the first place!

By the way i have an appointment booked for a bottom wax this Saturday in case i have to bare my buttocks in Burton's window next Monday should Novak win the Aussie Open. I expect to be able to cancel the appointment by Friday!

Day 10 - 1st time in the 10 days there is a sports event I want to watch without a bet - Murray v Nadal and I cant cos I am at work !

Other than that its just same routine as last week, there's football on, I need to ignore it, feel sick, don't want this, want to bet on it.

Football midweek, more football and other sports at weekend, I could survive on this 'diet' with all horse racing and greyhound nonsense eliminated....I could still post on here and say XX days free, based on

XX days without gambling on stuff that gives me problems rather than not gambling on anything at all

Is that allowed?

is this allowed?

hmmmmm, i hear your struggles captain, and i hear how you are chewing the cud over it. Brilliant place to be, because it means that your mind is open to find the best path for you.

to the question of is this allowed, i dont think anyone can give u a definative answer.

really want to throw that question back to you, and ask you if it would feel ok for you, or if this would be allowed for you?

maybe if you keep churning all this over, eventually you will find your own way and your own path.

i think writing down your thoughts is the ace way to go about thinking through things like this

you can accept or reject other people's opinions, or you can build on your own thoughts via the responses

but what it really comes down to is how u find your way for you

if you can cut out the nonsense, as you put it, maybe that would feel ok for you?

hope this makes sense?

love

rusty

xx

Hi Captain

The thing is if you feel like you could cut all the betting out apart from the sports bets, without feeling you have a problem, then why didnt you just do that and why are you here?

That paragraph isnt to irk you. Its a genuine question to ask yourself.

There are lots of people on here who would love to have what i would call an enjoyment bet say every saturday. But cant because they know it leads to more.I am one of those people.

You captain may be able to enjoy a sports bet and have no repercussions,in which case you dont have a problem. There are lots of people m8 who can control their betting habits but i would say 99.9% of people on here cant.Thats why we are here.I wish you all the best m8 Jeff.

(hence we are here),a little knowledge is dangerous captain.....,a lot of knowledge can be lethal when we are compuslive!!!.stay strong.

Evening captain,

Cheers for the post on my diary.

When i first started up here mate i was convinced that i would not be stopping gambling full time. I didn't think this would be possible. I just wanted to stop the bit where i stupidly threw money at random dogs and horses each month. I didn't want to stop the bit where i had a bet on the footy or the golf majors.

Like Jeff says above though, unfortunately i am not discliplined enough to cut out the reckless stuff. I suspect neither are you hence the reason you are here in the first place.

After going 2 months gamble free i now do believe i can quit for good. I'm a better person for it as well.

Are you allowed to just gamble on sports you ask? Well of course you are. There are no rules in here mate. Are you disciplined enough to do that though? Only you can answer that question.

I hope you stay gamble free mate because i think in the long run it will be the best decision you ever make.

Morning Captain,

Just caught up with your diary and can understand your dilemma. Have you come to a decision about what you are planning to do?

I really miss my gambling Captain to be honest but if I made friends with it again I know I would find myself on a slippery slope. It's undertandable to have a void in your life once gambling has been removed and it's entirely your choice as to whether you go back to old habits or find something new.

You have done really well up to now considering your mixed feelings and I would hate for you to go back to gambling in a way which obviously made you unhappy.

Takce care...Jas x

Hi Captain i have just read your diary and feel for you. I truely felt the void you feel now. It is like a sense of loss. I was the same i kept thinking i had lost something and didn't know where to find it. Believe me it will pass. I still feel strange and sometimes i feel empty but i know that this will always be the case unless we do somthing about it. Keep strong you have done so well and please take the advice of others in the Forum. Gamcare helped me so much and the friends in the forum are great with lots of experience. I don't think there is a half way house in gambling its iether all or nothing. But it is your choice at the end of the day.

Keep strong!

Tina

Hi Captain

You are starting to impress me.You are not sure whether to stop completely, but while you are undecided you have chose to abstain completely.Well done. This tells me that if you decided to stop gambling completely that you would stick to your guns. All the best Jeff.

Hi Captain,

Cheers for the post on my diary mate! I was thinking of you this morning when i was tracking the Djokovic match whilst in work. £500 you saved yourself there mate. More importantly you denied me my moment of glory in Burton's window!

I'm seriously impressed that you have done 11 days without gambling captain. Especially during a stage when you are by your own account still unsure about the thought of quitting full stop.

I hope you keep it going mate.

Day 12 - maybe I should change my user name to Mr Robot - I'm certainly living a robotic lifesyle - gym, work, home, eat, watch rubbish tv, check sports results and try to convince myself I can live without sport (fail miserably), read book, log on here, sleep, continuous weekday cycle.

Wish it was weekend, then remember there's nothing at weekend to look forward to so at weekend I'll wish it was Monday again.

(OK, I'll watch the Aussie open final on Sunday morning but other than that, nothing)

And the only sports events on that I'm interested in watching without betting on continue to be Tennis matches on during the day which I miss while working! ( Diary note - take holidays next year while Aussie Open is on ! - sure I made this note last year too )

I need some way to let out my emotions - shouting at someone or screaming for no apparent reason, or punching a wall seem good options right now....feeling of complete emptiness remains

Last time I felt this empty was when I couldnt gamble when I was out of work, I think I coped better then as I didnt have to have the effort of managing 17 staff, just be able to submit job applications every day!

Hi Captain,i can relate to how you feel, and i understand totally the thoughts you are having regarding "just" sports bets without the other "silly" gambling, and i also feel a great void in my life too, but because of my work situation it is that bit easier for me at the moment because i don't have the cash hence a bit easier for me,i really hope you can manage not to bet and i hope in time you can enjoy your sport just as much without the betting aspect to it.Best regards,

Seano.
