Hi wp.Never said i'd be away for good but i do still need to check up on some diaries.Just don't feel like writing on my own diary right now.
Glad to see your as strong as ever and that your giving support to others aswell!
Life for me at the moment is good.Still owe some money but i'm hoping that will be sorted out in due time. Not as much as it was afther the house sale!
Really hope all comes good for you...its not easy having a problem like ours....reading on your last post it might take a life time to get trust back.....as you said but at some point we will be clean! Trust is the thing...forget about money, what i have now,who's-who's.....its how we change our life now for the better that counts.
We are all different on here...some get trust no matter what...others not....i had to work at it!
wp keep going the way you are and some day things will come good.I'm living now in rented accomodation..much smaller than our old house..... but for the first time in the last three years i/we are happy!
My point being here work at it mate no matter how long it takes you will come good.
Take care mate!
Viggo!
Hi wp
Thanks for the post m8.you are one of the people i have thanked in my last post. But would just like to thank you again.I have written in my last post about different types of gambler having different ways of dealing with this addictionI do believe that you and myself ,plus others Jas,Seano and plenty more have the same way of dealing with it complete erradication. This has worked for us all and if we need to see the future speak to Jac and gull .We know it works lol.
After saying this wp things have not go smoothly for you in other departments Eg realationship wise ,yet you have still managed to keep gambling at bay.For this i commend you and im sure if you stick with it things will work out well for you.I can see you dont give in.So all the best M8 Jeff.
Thank you my friends for your support....there seems to be a lot of diaries on here whove had enough of their own diaries..myself included by the way....yes we may not have much to say gamblewise but i still think a few wee words here or there may help newer additions..when i was new to here i only read pages from the front and didnt trawl all the way back through the pages..after all why have we all suddenly become experts when only WE know its only the turn of a card, the dropping of a coin, the touch of a button, the spin oif a wheel or a phone call away ?? Ive noticed over the past couple of months diaries returning after a period of abstainence so for now i wont get myself carried away, yes i will read but i will post too....For all that said it may also mean we are leading normal and meaningful lives :-)....Anyway alls well with me for now..today i didnt bet tomorrow i wont bet we can do this folks 😉
Hi wp
Just wanted to say m8.Your last post is why i always stay in touch. You talk a lot of sense kid.Keep up the good work Jeff.
Hi wp,
Yes, you certainly talk a lot of sense and I completely agree with you about the possibility that sometime in the future, there may not be the need to post so much on our diaries.
When that happens is really only up to us. We all have different personal circumstances and me personally, I cannot see myself moving away from this forum for a long while. True, there will be very busy weeks where I may only be able to post once or twice but currently, I feel that reading so many new and old diaries over and over again makes me realise that slipping is a definite NO-NO!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Thanks for the post - and I agree 100%. The biggest battle we face after the initial "stopping" is the complacency issue. I know that, at present, I'm still very much in a position where I could be tempted. I still think about gambling - I even justify to myself that crtain types of gambling would be okay BUT i know that, for me to succeed, NO GAMBLING WHATSOEVER is the only solution.
I am extremely grateful for your sound advice and it has repelled the gambling demons back - cos I've grown stronger as a result.
Thanks mate and keep up the good work.
All the best
Hatch
Hi wp,
I have noticed that people disappear for a while only to reappear a couple of months later. Thats why I post even when Ive had a lapse. Posting helps stop a lapse turning into a relapse, as staying away completely sadly means for many people that they are back in action.
Im also finding it hard to post on my own and others' diaries, feels a bit like im saying the same stuff over and over...
I reckon you are doing right staying connected with the diaries even if you've not much to say. Cant hurt can it?
Take care,
f x
winningpost,
Thanks for dropping by on my diary, looks like your fighting all the temptations mate, good luck in your journey and as you say we can do this, take care mate.
Hi wp, i know what you mean when you say that you don't have much to post. Like you say, it's good to keep supporting other diaries, especially the newer ones. I hope all is well with you. Russ
Hi wp
Thanks for the post on my diary. Just had a read of yours and would like to say well done, you are doing great and thats where I want to be.
Horseracing was my passion for the last few decades! of my life. Letting it go is difficult, but now I won't even look at the sports pages in the newspaper, C4 on Saturday afternoon, or any website results etc. In fact I just avoid sports in general because any contact with it seems to trigger the urge to gamble.
Keep strong and look forward to reading of your first Year of being gamble free.
Cheers
DD
Hi post,
Just a quick message to say that i'm giving the diaries a bit of a break. I'll pop back every now and again to see how things are. I just wanted to put a post on the diaries that have helped me the most, and you are truly one of those. Keep up the good work mate.
We can do this!!
Steve
wp,
Thanks for the post on my diary.
There's a phrase in GA that I remember that is somewhat appropriate with regard to keeping the diary going:
"Keep coming back, it works, it works, it won't if you don't".
Its your call but for what its worth, like you I've been questioning writing stuff in my diary when I know its not totally relevant. It's a lot better that how things were before though. Why change a successful formula?
There is almost like a graduation phase from these diaries with people leaving recently. In the nicest possible way.... I hope we only hear from them once a year as a check in (as their recoveries will be successful). Whatever your recovery strategy, best of strength to you but I always look out for your updates.
Brian
Glad to hear things are on an upward curve for you wp,hope it stays that way.
Seano.
