Hi wp

Thanks for your post on my diary. Maybe if we go on about it enough someone will eventually take notice and do something to control the evil greedy gambling industry that destroys so many lives.

Wishing you strength in your own battle.

Hope you had a good gamble free weekend.

David

Hi Winningpost,

Thanks for posting on my diary - I appreciate your kind words and encouragement.

I, like you feel very strongly about people not being aware on the dangers of this terrible addiction and bay window advertising makes perfect sense to me. The more noticeable the better!

Bookmakers in my opinion should also have warnings on any documentation they print, on any display screens in the bookmakers and on their websites - the same way the cigarette companies now have health warnings labelled on their packaging.

Winningpost, that is fantastic news about your father too. I am sure it has given you a great lift.

Congratulations on your excellent progress and stay strong!

We can do this!

Hi wp

glad you are still going strong 🙂

on the subject of warnings for gambling....I can only speak for myself and my own experiences, but when I was in action I don't think I would have took any notice of a big inflatable dog, biffing me on the head saying 'gambling is bad man! woof!'. I was a smoker for 10 years and never paid a blind bit of notice to the warnings on the ciggy packets.

However, I still think you have a point, because I think it would help change society's attitude. Maybe make them take compulsive gambling more seriously. Hopefully people might have a little more compassion for us. Who knows?

Anyway take care, and have a good week!

hi wp, thanks for your post on my diary, always good to hear from you.

I agree with your thoughts on more to help compulsive gamblers, i think its true to say we are the "hidden epidemic" and i've always thought it crazy that i can go to the Dr's and get help if i am an alcoholic or drug addict, and be offered help, but not if i am a compulsive gambler !

Glad your dad is ok.

take care

tommi

posted on my on own diary. Came home today and looked at the headlines. One story was about judge complaining about online gambling companies.

It's in the news today but will be forgotten tomorrow by all those who are connected to gambling addiction.

wp,

Just checking in with you to see how everything is going.

From what I can gather from your postings recently, you seem to have a measure of calm and are certaintly winning in overcoming this addiction.

Keep up the good work and keep coming back. It keeps it fresh which combats complacency.

Brian

Thanks jeff,brian,blocked,g2 and seano :-)...having read through some diaries since my last post one diary in particular caught my eye...in my own opinion it came across as "im alright jack" and so should the rest of us be...well we are ALL very different, some have gone bankrupt, lost houses, even picked up a very serious illness, facing a sentence at hm prison and lost loved ones because of this disease so have every right to feel a little "doom and gloom..history on my diary tends to tell me not to get too wound up by other diaries (which i dont these days) ...i am deeply hurt as to where my actions got me and every day i feel the pain in not bein able to see them bairns ,so downhearted as i may sound i have hit my rock bottom when i joined these diaries and wont be going back there again...the scars wont heel overnight though...we ALL have good days and bad days in recovery, some leave others come back...i myself wont leave this forum, whilst others have admirable aids of recovery this diary is MY main barrier...the fight goes on, each day is an achievement...today i did not bet tomorrow i wont bet we can do this folks 🙂

Cheers for the post wp.

I've not been given lines since school! I think you are right though it might benefit me to write out Stumper's saying 100 times.

I think you are right mate i do need to put some barriers in place.

I'll get there in the end i hope.
