Hi all it's been 2 weeks now without betting, today it seems to be on my mind alot,I'm missing something in my life and my mind is saying gambling,I'm trying not to have my phone at my side because it's to easy to look at betting sites, my wife is holding my phone for me so I don't look at anything betting.

Why do you think your getting your life back after 2 weeks then 1 day you're mind just sets you back so much, my wife has said we will have our tea and go out for a good walk and hopefully that will clear my head of this terrible thing.

Regards William

Hi William, are you signed up for GamStop? It’s a good way for you to take your mind off gambling as it completely takes away the opportunity to pick up your phone, look through the betting sites and gamble online.

Hi William 🙂

This thinking of gambling is going to happen my friend , addiction's not going to give up without a fight now is it, not after all these years of having you to herself or himself (just to be gender neutral ) as that would be far too easy .

All you can do in my experience  is just push through them and ride out the storm , most are like withdrawal symptoms anyway and will fade in time .

Keep busy and your mind occupied and in time they will fade , you could also consider downgrading your phone to a non internet version if it's really a problem ?, I know it's not cool but it is safer :).

Wishing you well buddy .

Hi all I'm still gambling free and I'm feeling pretty good about myself, I still have days were it niggles me to go and have a bet or play a machine but I've learned to grab that feeling and throw it out of my mind and get on with my life without betting

I hope your all doing well and staying gambling free.

Kind regards William

Hi all I'm struggling today it's 10am and all I can think of is having a bet or get to the betting shop and get on the machine, the problem with that is I've no money or debit card because my wife has them I've just told her that I'm struggling with my gambling problem today and she has said she will help me to get over it today.

We would normally go out for a walk but the weather is chucking it down so that's a no go.

You wouldn't believe what she has out on the table it's my granddaughter's snakes and ladders game board and that's what we're playing today we'll if it works and keeps me busy so be it.

Kind regards William

Hi William 🙂

Anything that help's you get through another day is a good thing my friend ( even if it is Snake's n Ladder's ) .

As I Said before this addiction doesn't want to let go without a fight so use everything you can to get in it's way and the fact that within the next week or so you'll have been gamble free for a month should be another good prod in the right direction that your not only beating this but that you'll continue to do so , especially with the support of those around you 🙂 .

Stay well my friend .

Hi William

Well done for getting through these last few weeks GF.  As you have experienced, gambling thoughts and urges can continue for some time, and keeping busy is a great idea to help distract yourself from them.  There's also a tecnhique called "urge surfing" in the GC Self Help Workbook that may be of some help, and of course you can get additional support through our free HelpLine 0808 8020 133.

Keep up the great work, you're doing well.

Kind regards

Hi all thank you for all your support and I will keep fighting the horrible urges to gamble.

I'm just about 1 month gambling free which I can't believe I've got this far, because it's all I've lived for and done for the 36 years of my life.

I will not let this addiction beat me I've promised myself and my family and I will not let them down

Kind regards William

It's a strange feeling waking up and realising it's a month since the last gamble and I almost wanted to pinch my self  when I got there , that doesn't mean much to anyone else but to a CG it's like the Holy grail 🙂 .

Stay well William and continue enjoying the fruits of your hard work in stopping 🙂

Hi all I've nearly had a very bad wobble today I don't know how or who stopped me from having a bet today, but I was very close to doing it and something stopped me,was it my dad who is looking down on me from heaven I would say it was him, but whatever or whoever I didn't have a bet, thank God and my dad.

Hi Sarah thanks for your kind help I'm now going to join gamstop to finish the betting temptation and my wife and myself are going to all the betting shops in our town to get them to stop taking bets from myself, which I haven't done for a while now but by doing this all my ways of gambling are gone thank God.

Kind regards William
