Morning World,

Day 273 - Full of good intention today!! Going for a run at 10am first one of 2013 been back exercising since Wednesday but first time on the road this year. Will be interesting to see where I am on the running front as the other training program I have being doing should in theory help the running but we will see.

Got a plan to road run 3 times a week and other training 3 days. I like having a plan it helped massively during the summer. Just hope the limbs and the mind are ready to follow it whilst the weather isn't so favourable.

On the gambling front I must admit to having a few passing thoughts , not huge urges which would worry me but being a bit short in January thinking what if.

Talk about proof I am a problem gambler if ever I needed it. I sit with thousands worth of debt all of it gambling debt, yet my mind still whispers how about winning enough to see you through January. What does please me is being in control enough to say those thoughts are totally irrational.

So, one day away from day 274 which leaves me 91 days away from 1 year. I seem to remember the first thread I moderated last year was 91 days it's a nice psychological boost knowing that absolutely whizzed by. 86 days until my first 2013 holiday.

Plenty to keep me going!

Day 273 - 1 day until target!

Many thanks for your supportive post.

Keep clocking up the days and further yourself from this horrible addiction.

Good Afternoon,

Day 274 - Final minor target reached and now looking forward one day at a time to the big 365. 9 months since my last bet and really pleased with my progress.

Off home now for some crazy workout which I'm sure I will regret within 3 minutes of it starting.

Day 274 - Target reached!

Well done Flagg you've done brilliant to get this far. 9 months is a really amazing achievement. You should be proud of what you've done and what you continue to do. One day at a time, my five favourite words. A great start to 2013.

Good Afternoon,

Day 275 - Really really slow day today. Currently have an apprentice at work who pretty much covers all my day to day duties. It sounds great in theory I just watch over and make sure no glaring errors are made but in reality it's quite dull. The major downside is once I have finished for the day lethargy has seriously kicked in and I don't want to do anything else. Seriously having to push myself to exercise.

Other than that life is fine and very different to this time last year where my gambling had become frequent, heavy, and desperate. I had got to the stage where I think I wanted to lose and wanted the misery to end. Covering my tracks almost daily. Not having things like that to contend with is great to be honest.

Day 275 - Better than last year!

Hi Flagg. Great to read those differences from last year to this year. With work try to enjoy not doing to much you'll soon be back to being nice and busy and be wishing for some quiet time haha. Thanks very much for your post. The support as you know is much appreciated. I do feel good about this year and looking forward to the challenges ahead and completing more and more threads along the way. Have a good day, hopefully not quite as dull as yesterday. I say roll on 5 o'clock when I finish!!

Good Morning Diary,

Day 276 - Thought I would get an early post in today. Not sure why as I do not have a great deal to report. Got a meeting at 9 gathering all my troops together for a project I will be working on in the next few weeks. There is work to do maybe I am just in January mode.

Interesting reading over the last few days a couple of diaries from people who were off gambling for a year or a fair few months and then went back to it. I think if you stop posting and take your eye off the issue it's inevitable you will go back. One of the first things I picked up and probably the most important is that this addiction had us beat and there is no magical cure. Sounds a bit scary but you know what, post here regularly, retain focus, and don't get complacent then you can keep the issue at arms length. If you have something that works then why change it. I will be posting again tomorrow that works for me!!

Day 276 - Consistent!

Hi Flagg,

276 days ! What an achievement. I've been meaning to post on your diary since you showed your support on mine in all honesty. Sometimes the larger diaries as a newbie can be pretty daunting to take on. I won't claim to have read each and every detail on yours, but I'm giving it a go. It' great.

You gave me some great advice on my diary and I've so far been to it into place and getting ok results. Well ok good results. I know 19 days seems poor in comparison but this isn't about a competition is it. It's about us here making lifestyle changes. Lifestyle changes which will actually give us the chance to really experience life and not dread it like we would be 99.9% when we're gambling.

Seems like you're into you're exercise a bit too then ? It's a great head clearer. I've noticed this recently on my cycle rides either to or from work. I say to or from because I've been cheating a bit and I'll get a lift the one way, and cycle the other. Obviously prior to Dec 21st I was gambling like a maniac so neglected my fitness as much as everything else. I'm now experiencing the benefits of getting on the bike more. I think ?

Noticed also your plans to go to Barcelona in April Flagg ? It's an awesome city mate and I guarantee you'll love it if you haven't been before. A very good friend of mine lives there as a matter of fact so let me know if you need any tips.

Well done mate. Looks like you're doing great. Gotta go now as folks are here.

Thanks again for the support.
