Hi. This is my new diary, I'm on Day 4 not gambling. The only target I have is to be gambling free for one more day than yesterday.Â
My aims are
to be absolutely honest with myself *here*
to update once a day
to join in as many chats with wonderful fellow recovering CGs
to keep and add to my blocks (currently GAMSTOP and restrictions to my financial access)
That's it; keeping it simple.
Roch,
Welcome to the forum.
You sound determined and committed to creating a new snd better future for yourself. I wish you every success.Â
Know this, you will have good days snd bad days at the beginning but regardless of your day there is no excuse for gambling. You’ve left that world behind. Now you’re on the journey to a better snd happier place.
Good luck. I wish you well.
RR
Thank you RR for the warm welcome and wise advice, it's really appreciated.Â
Day 5. Today I won't gamble.
Welcome to the diaries RochG.
Wishing you success and happiness on your gamble free adventure.
AumÂ
Thank you Stephen for your very kind thoughts.Â
Day 6.Â
Some things are best when kept simple..... I feel you will do well keping it that way. Just make sure you have all the blocks in place in case you get tempted down the line e.g. dont carry cards with u to town only the cash you need ie keep away from you cash then this equals no cash no gambling. Transfer your money after bills to a loved one if possible thsi really really helps ive done it for five years now, i just keep 500 pounds in current accoutn after bills then transfer the rest. All the best adamÂ
Thanks Adam for your thoughtful post. I've given my current account card to my Mum (I'm in my 50s!). My wife knows this and doesn't mind ... It means I can't gamble with it (I've got Gamstop so can't online either). The way I look at it, I will do whatever helps. It's not a question of (misplaced) pride. It's about taming this gambling dragon. You've got an excellent strategy yourself. You're right; no cash, then you can't gamble.Â
Day 7 today. One day at a time.
Day 8. No going today. I've promised my diary.Â
Â
Day 9. I refuse to gamble today.
Day 10.  No gambling today. Registered for Gamban yesterday. Gamstop + Gamban is a good barrier to prevent online gambling.
Well done Roch great to hear of your progress since joining and the blocks was a very wise decision

Excellent progress RochG.
Ten days gamble free and you are taking practical measures to prevent yourself from gambling.
Respect to you Sir.
From AumÂ
Thank you so much for passing by my diary Stephen (Aum) and Lou. It's such a boost when that happens. It's affirmation of how much care flows between us recovering gamblers. We are in it together. Collectively we can tame this illness better than by ourselves.Â
Day 11, and I'm not going to gamble today. The way I'm feeling right now I'm not going to gamble all year BUT I know full well these feelings come and go. So it's one day at a time today. I refuse to gamble today.Â
It helps that with Gamban and Gamstop in place I'm not sure how I CAN gamble. These seem to cover online gambling. There's nowhere else to gamble. But I've subdued the sneaky part of my brain today and so won't even think about how to get round these.Â
Day 12. I refuse to gamble today. I've promised myself and will not let Tom and Lou down.Â
Affected by gambling?
