Hi Lucy,

Great to read your last update, and hear you are feeling good and doing what you need to to keep strong. I'm not exhaustively reading through the diaries, as it's too raw for me, and I get annoyed with some people which isn't good for my stress levels 😉

Anyway, keep up with the good work and I hope in a month or so we're both in such a good place as today.

Good morning

Have landed at the Cumbrian fells after a scary 7 hour journey , should not drive tired but as I can't sleep much I have no choice !

Anyway , no chance of a gamble while I'm here , well if I really wanted too I suppose I could find a way but you know what , that's just something I'm NOT going to do , life's soooooo much better bet free !

Hope all remain bet free and have a great weekend

For me , lots of walking on the tops , clearing my mind, reminding myself why I must remain bet free and with money in the bank can even treat myself just cause I can now !

Keep strong all

Smiling , soon to be sore legged Lucy xxx

Hello hello,

Great post there and one that highlights the continued progress you are making in recovery. I can relate to the sore legs at the moment, running every day and I wake this morning to play football feeling like an old man. No pain no gain and all that lol!

Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic weekend and the weather is kind to you. Smiling Lucy seems to be well and truly back and this forum is a whole lot brighter because of it.

Good morning all

Up in Cumbria , weather rubbish so not got up on the tops yet but watching the Olympics so not all bad 🙂

Reading some things over the last couple of days and want to say a couple of things

The generalisation about cg's is unfounded , there could be many different underlying factors which lead to destructive behaviours , in my case gambling , I will only put a main one on here but there are many other dark events which have led to where I was before I stopped

First my husband was one of the factors which led to my destruction , gambling became a form of escape from a totally unhappy marriage , yes I did lie about money but he knew what I was doing and not once did he offer support in any form even when I asked on more than one occasion for help !

Leaving my marriage has helped me on my recovery

Do I lie now , no way , I am very honest maybe sometimes too honest in the info I give out on this forum but that is just the person I am , I wear my heart on my sleeve , what you see is what you get but I would never intentionally hurt someone and I battle daily with what I did when gambling , I'm ashamed , have regrets but most of all I want to continue on my recovery journey and that means I also need the support I get from most of the wonderful people on this site .

I will continue to support others as much as I can with the knowledge that I am a genuine nice person with an illness but one that I can keep at bay by being the honest person I am .

Keep strong all and hope you continue being bet free just like me

Smiling Lucy xxxxx
