Bad news Harold our Loxxie said no chance lol

Fancy teasing us with one post then leaving again, that being said it did make my day and I'm honoured that you thought of me. Glad to see the old goat is still going strong and will await the kings return in April , the bad news about the captcha is it may of been my idea . I do see the funny side though smashing my fingers on the screen praying this ones a winner and I get the blue tick or I get sent through to the bonus round in which I have to pit my wits against the gamcare overloads, pick all that have a tree, an evil cackle comes through the phone haha the one you ticked in the right corner is a plant **** head . Then you go through to round three where they just feel sorry for you as your obviously thick and it says just tick one box anywhere, yet somehow I still can't manage to get the tick , no wonder I was so poor at gambling?

Kisses my old friend

Wondered where you were! Just caught up with your diary and now I see 🙂 I'm back after a long gap...and noticed things seemed different here, there were a handful of people that were truely truely inspirational when I first joined and their absence is being felt! You being one of them. Wishing you all the best you really deserve a wonderful life of happiness and your words to countless numbers I know will have changed lives 🙂

Thank's Loxxie and Deano :)) , I was thinking Big D didn't wanna talk to me anymore until I realised it takes 3 day's for the censorship filter to work and I am keeping a lookout for a "Mamil " ( Middle age man in Lycra ) running in the Birmingham 10k this morning though ? :)) .

Anyhooz , 600 day's gamble free eh , I could sit here and type about how it was for me back way back then but that's been well documented already so I'll just say " Compared to that period in time , my life now is so unrecognisable and wonderfull it's difficult to believe :)) .

So then for a catchup dear diary !.

So the Hip operation was on the 12th of April , unfortunately I only had the Right one done instead of the two that had planned , I'd gone in on the morning of the op ,had my pre meds and wheeled down to the operating theatre with two lovely black arrows drawn on my legs so as no mistake would be made , as like most human beings I do have 2 legs anyway so quite why there would be a mixup I'm not sure , just procedure I'm sure LOL :)) .

My Surgeon came out and sort of grimaced and said that he hated to say it but they'd had a Trauma injury in and it might not be possible to do both hips , he then told me an 83yr old lady had fallen in a care home and smashed her Hip and pelvis quite badly, so he had no protest from me and sent me back up on the ward until about 4 in the afternoon when I was taken down and operated on . Everything went well but what a strange experience , when they give you the drugs and your looking at you legs and feet but as hard as you try cannot move them ( for someone that's Paralysed suddenly after an accident , I couldn't begin to understand how you begin to deal with that ) , I had my headphones on for the duration and probably not great that the first song that had been uploded from itunes library was Blue oyster cult " Don't fear the reaper " ( you gotta laugh ) ? .

Didn't feel bothered by anything as they kept me topped up with sedatives but I heard a saw and when they started with the Hammer and Chisel the jolt's woke me up and I tried to put my arm out LoL ! , when the registrar came to see me the following morning he asked in a big Aussie accent " Do you remember trying to dive Head first into your open wound and pulling the curtain down " ? , it was probably me thinking I could maybe help in some way ? :)) .

So back on a ward of 4 where everyone else had had knee replacements , I and two other blokes where soon contemplating chipping in for a bag of peanuts to see who could throw the most in the open snoring mouth of the bloke in the corner , that night he insisted on having what can only be described as a small floodlight about 3 inches from his face while he slept and snored , combine this with the alarm they had fitted to his matress which went " BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP " everytime he shifted position meant none of us got much rest :(( , I also had my blood pressure and pulse taken every couple of hours and oxygen pumped up my nostrils throughout the night , the biggest thing that kept me awake that night though was a nurse with tatoos who scared me if I'm honest , she asked earlier in the evening if I had a " Leg seperater in place ( to stop me crossing my legs ) , to which I replied " I'm not sure " but "I've something Large rolled up between them " , She then said that "she'd be around later to check that " , Oh , me and my whitty remarks ?????.

Talk about a quick turnaround , back on the ward at 8 in the ervening and 23 hrs later I was back home ? , if you can hobble down the corridoor to a room with 3 steps up a landing and 3 steps down your fine and any further time spent in hospital brand's you a malingering t**t :)) .

Anyway , a couple of weeks at home and I'm down to one crutch and feeling much better since the 27 staples were removed from my right buttock , in for a wound check on Tuesday and looking forward to taking a shower after 3 weeks as I've got to the point of thinking If I look and smell like someone sat on the floor outside Greggs and I've all this time off of work and I own a scruffy looking Jack russel then why not , it could be quite lucrative and suppliment my benefits at the moment ( only kidding ) :)).

We still have all the kids at the moment but there are a great couple who are going through the process of adopting the youngest 2 and it's looking more likely that the eldest will stay with us but we can never be certain the way the system works , I'm not able to do too much at the mo and as the youngest has just discovered the art of " Fingerpainting in Pooh " my partners got her work cut out ( nearly said her hands full but that's the baby ) , as soon as he realises he's done one it's hand's in the pants time , which is fine if you can catch him quickly but when he's in the cot first thing in the morning holding his hands up going " OH " "OH" it aint great ! :(( .

So lot's of time on my hands at the mo as I'm signed off until mid June and as much as I'm keen to get the shop back open again it's something I'm not going to rush until I'm ready , I spend a lot of time on my feet during the day and there's a fair bit of bending and lifting involved as well , My first Granchild's due early July so I may well take the extra time out and enjoy some quality precious time with my daughter as it's not something I'm usually able to do .

The gambling side of things really a thing of the past these day's , even with all the spare time I have at the mo it just doesn't interest me anymore ( can't believe I'm saying that ) , holidays or rest day's used to be soley about gambling , how I could get the fund's or sneak away for an hour in the bookies or at the casino and then finding an excuse because I had no money left ? .

For me it's just been about getting interested in life again , it doesn't matter what it is but just focusing on other thing's instead of gambling , difficult at first but now it's just the norm , I just needed to "Retrain the brain " :)) .

Love and best wishes to everyone that's moving forward , keep going as the results are soooo worth it :))

My name is Alan and I'm a Compulsive Gambler ( 600 Day's with no bet ) xx

The return of the million dollar man , from now on can you sign off with ( I'll be back) as your part man part machine ? I did leave you a message in the week but it may of been a slight delay which means most my posts go unnoticed, none the less it's up there anyway , I have been wondering how you were getting on and I'm glad to see you're still the strong old git from when you left , as for the kid painting in poo I hear down London that kind of art goes for some decent coin? Maybe when you open the chip shop again you can franchise the batter chips ? I should be of detention some time next week so you might get another post before this one lol have a good one Harold and as always don't be a stranger ,

Peace out and kisses

Great catch up al..
I didn't post before because I wanted to wait til you'd showered ! can't stand smelly bits lol..
Seriously though...I hope your recovering well and not doing things you shouldn't...
The news on the kids is good I suppose...two off to start new life...one staying with you....all very lucky children as individuals..but separation is never good is it ....but ...as we've learnt on our journey. ...it is what it is !
Love the painting with fingers story....I think !. .but then I'm not the lady having to run round with the bleach/cloth !
Hope all's going well for your daugter with the pregnancy...and yes...grandparent role is the dogs bits ....
Has Mrs fish enjoyed having you home ?. ...us girls can be funny old things....I love the house to myself most of the time...
Hubby always sits on the cushions when I puffed them up...or leaves fluffy trails on the carpet when I've hoovered...
But as we've also learnt in our journey....tolerance to others. ...so I don't really mind....I just 're P**f..and Hoover again lol..
Anyway....I'm sooooo glad your back...but things change don't they Alan...and I'm busy with life/work etc...as most of us are...and selfishly don't feel they need to be here quite so often...I do try to pop in most days...to have a nose....and offer support to any who may need it....I remember how important it was in my early days...desperately waiting for someone to listen...jeez...seems a life time ago...right....I've got domestic chores to do ..much love old duffer xxx. mwahhh

Sounds like a glimpse of what awaits with retirement. But I'm gonna say you'll probably go longer than prince Philip, love the bloke but I'm a little confused how he can retire as he only shakes people's hands lol

Speaking of saving a few quid on the bills I did the same recently must of been on the same gas and leccy for years it's surprising the amount of time you have with no bet huh? That being said I find I'm less frugal now I find if I want it I tend to buy it , I bought a bird box the other week to feed the locals dam things cost me more to feed than the cat, it took a few day's to attract them but once I'd been found out one must of told all his mates as my garden looked like a scene from the Alfred Hitchcock movie, I think I've turned into a bit of a softie planting flowers and feeding birds? There's my glimpse at retirement? And that's me 8 months bet free today who'd of thought ay

Peace me old boot

X

Hi Dean0

Looks like 'Prince Philip' was in the profanity filter. We've removed those words from the filter.

Thanks
