I totally agree with what you say. Credit card companies make a mint from people using them to fund their habit (myself included).

Take care and keep ranting! x

Just out of chat and not surprised, debt issues have been raised.

It is, imho. sensible to discuss any issues for free with Citizens Advice.

For some going bankrupt is one move but not to be taken lightly.

The topic of an IVA was raised. It is important to understand that companies will take some of your money to line their pockets but also there are charities who will manage it for free.

Please take a look at

http://www.cccs.co.uk/

I also understand that these folk are also a no fee body

http://www.payplan.com/

Please note I am no expert or have I been on one of these plans so do contact CAB in the first instance.

Another source is

http://www.debtwizard.com

Hope this is of help. Finally, do look at

Free to join and good advice there.

Well the long nights are here again and it is certainly getting colder.

Gamcare seems to me to be busier than ever and it is good people have found this site.

Well I ain`t far short of 5 years since my last bet, it has flown by. If it is any help, I can honestly say that gambling seems to be such an unattractive option for me. It`s been well over a year since I felt an urge and that was slight and very fleeting

We are starting the clear out ready to down size. Been stuffing stuff into bin liners today. Amazing what you can hang on to. I found it quit a sad experience throwing away some Enid Blighton books that I have had since a child.

We both like books and sadly many will have to go along with other stuff from my earlier life. The are different problems concerning the move that will need addressing, not the least an income. Will have to deal with this as we go along.

We have no set time frame but are being strongly encouraged by members of the family to hurry up. Well they will have to wait. Things need sorting.

Hope you have a good weekend with no urges.

Graham x

Hey, there's nothing wrong with downsizing. I have been downsizing for years and won't be able to cope if I had to sleep in a room upstairs!

But really good to hear from someone who is close to five years gamble free. It just reminds me that my dream WILL happen.

Getting There

Brrrr, still very cold. Just posted on some one elses diary. Not sure how many are like me but all the bad news around, jobs, the economy is getting me down. I know a number of people who are unsure of their future. Not a good place to be.

Can`t say it helps when talking to customers, most of whom have had a pretty awful year. Already hearing of some looking to throw in the towel in the New Year. This normally the manic time but not so far. Will just have to see.

Christmas will be pretty boring. 200 miles from family and friends and my wife working through out. Off next week to see my sister in law. The one who had her husband walk out after 30 years of marriage. Things are pretty bleak for her and she is not doing to well with the situation. The weekly cash contribution has been halved so that adds financial pressure.

Although there are 2 kids at home, they are over 18, so he could force a sale on the house at any time. Being near London, that is going to cause major problems.

Still no thoughts of gambling. In fact not one urge for over a year now. It seems amazing seeing as I was almost a daily gambler for around 20 years.
