Its been 9 days since i admitted that id bitten off more than i could chew to the people closest to me. and i suppose to myself. Managing to avoid serious problems thanks to my parents bailing me out was very lucky but apart from that i seem to have lost pretty much everything, job, flat, and now the love of my life and i dont blame her. She made me want to change but by the time i could say anything it was to late and id already broken too much of her trust. Currently waiting on a gp referral to get some one on one counseling, while staying with my parents. I just struggle to explain it to anyone and make them understand how everything happened and why i couldnt tell anyone. no one really gets it and the person who i thought might has gone.

Hi Jamesblack,

Welcome to this supportive site and well done for admitting you have a problem. To share it with ur loved ones is not easy at all. But you have done it and it's huge step forward..Honesty and responsibility for our own actions is very important in recovery.

You are not on your own and there are lots of advice and support here. We all in the same boat and understand each other.

The question we all ask ourselves - why? . .is the hardest to answer...but it's never too late to learn from mistakes. Put the past behind and concentrate on now and today.

Hope you will get one to one councelling soon and picture will become clearer.

Stay close to this site, read, write in your own diary.

Approach your recovery day at a time and the light at the end of the tunnel will get bigger and brighter with each day.

Take care and keep strong

Sandra

Sorry to hear you've lost so much more than money. Sounds like you've got your family behind you and are making some really good decisions towards getting help. Stay strong and don't give in to temptation and you'll soon start to see life improve. Good luck.
