Thanks for posting your kind words of encouragement on my diary Chicargo.

I echo everything you say on your last post too - we are both "IN IT TO WIN IT" - win normality back in our lives once again.

Take care.

Hi there

don't know if they had them in the States but a couple of years ago there was a craze here for plastic fish mounted on a wooden block that wriggled about and sang.

The song was 'Don't worry, be happy'. Just reminds me of them when you get such pleasure from your fishing.

Hey all,

It's been a great week, and I'am looking forward to the weekend. I'am sticking to my relapse prevention plan and working hard towards my next weigh in on June 1 st. I enjoyed my 2 G.A. meetings this week and my group therapy session along with my 1 on 1 therapy session. Today I treated myself to a very good pair of running/walking shoes which will help me to step up my training a bit more. It's been a long time since I cared to treat myself to something positive. I found myself reflecting on all the countless hours and money I shoved into those slot machines, and how wonderful it is now to look out for me. Put myself first, time to take care of my necessities, not the casinos. Simple things that I put off to the side, because I was an addict then, and I didn't care about those things, I only wanted to feed my addiction. Well today I put me first, and I will continue to do so, and strive to reach my goals in recovery. I wish you the best in your recovery process.

Hi Chicagoguy.

Hope you are doing well.

Sorry for my late response here.

I'm still gamble free and fishing will soon be on my agenda. I can totally echo your thoughts about being out in nature. God I miss it. I have a spot on the beach that I fished regularly and hope to return there soon. It's gonna be a challenge though, as I combine my fishing with long walks and my spot must 6-7 miles away, so 12 miles there and back, holding a rod and with a weighty bag on my back. I'll be okay, as I've done it before lots of times.

I'm gonna try for this Thursday coming.

Have to believe I can do it.

Wish me luck and thanks for the support and encouragement.

My favourite fishing quote, pretty much sums up why need to get out there again....

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

Henry David Thoreau

Thanks again

Alex

Hey all,

Another spectacular weekend. Gamble free of course. Had some great fishing expeditions down to my new spot. My brother and I went up to the Bass Pro Shops store by us, and I bought myself some new lures for my tackle box, nice to spend a few dollars on my fishing gear these days. We had a nice barbecue Saturday night at his house with family, I grilled myself some lamb chops, excellent since that's the first bit of real red meat I've had in a while. Lots of egg whites and fish these days, so I felt like the lamb chops were a treat. Today I went down to my hot spot, to try out my new lures, did pretty good, caught 4 Large Mouth Bass, kinda windy out today, enjoyed my fishing time. Had some great walks this weekend with my brother at night and spent some time at the local gym. In 3 weeks I weigh up again, feel like a fighter training for that prize fight, except I'am training for abstinence. Yes, getting healthy in all aspects of my life so I'am in tip top shape mentally and physically to abstain from the gambling. That's the fight, me against gambling, guess what I'am knocking gambling out 1 st round. Thanks for all the incredible support on here from my Gamcare family, I really appreciate it. I have a busy week ahead, filled with 2 G.A. meetings, group therapy session and 1 on 1 therapy session. Of course, there will be some fishing time, hope everyone had a great weekend, and I wish you the best in your recovery process.

Meaning nothing for nothing in this world, gambling is the route of all evil. An honest man's pillow is his peace of mind Chicago !
