Hi All

I do love quotes and now love them even more in recovery. Quotes around addiction and recovery. Would love to hear any good quotes anyone knows and post them on here. 

My favourite quote is Addiction means giving up everything for one thing. Recovery is giving up one thing to get everything.

I need some help. I am working on a quote that I would like to encompass complacency, drive and that addiction never goes away. I'm not sure of the wording so could do with some help

 

Recovery never sleeps unless you neglect it

Addiction snoozes unless you awake it

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for starting this thread. I think we're all partial to a good simple quote or two that we can carry with us on a daily basis, and through our journeys. 

Your favourite one is a gooden, and is so powerful in just a few words.

Throwing some thoughts on a postcard out to help build out the desired quote:

- Addiction waits for the moments I stop paying attention. Recovery grows in the moments I don’t

- My addiction may never leave, but neither will my determination to stay ahead of it

- I don’t fear my addiction returning; I fear forgetting why I walked away from it.

- Addiction is patient, but so am I. I won't allow complacency to speak for me anymore

Trainspotting film has the famous quotes CHOSE and then all sorts of things materialistc people (but most of us) aspire to in life....to build ones self......

Love these films becuase companies want us to strive to want to better our materialistic selves so they can profit...... funnily enough tho gambling is the complete opposite as u dont actually get a tangible object no matter how successful u are at it???????????????????????????????? we are mad arent we??????????

The simple quote that I tell myself and others when they are in a hole...

"Nothing changes if nothing changes" 

It can be interpretted in different ways but I see it as taking accountability and being the change you want to see.
