Here goes,

For about 20 years now I have gambled on and off managing to stop then starting again. This time for me I am certian I will stop just phoned the Gamcare number 08002942060 and self excluded myself from the betting shops in my area. My big thing are touch bet roulette and the casino cards and roulette lost a fortune thousands of pounds.

Like I said this is the start day #2 and counting

Cheers Phil,

Hopefully make it through today, I have tried calling the Gamcare hotline to self ban myself from all bookies in the area but nobody answers the phone. I will go into my local bookie tomorrow and self ban myself.

If I am being honest I have had enough of gambling been part of my life for 20 years time to change.

Thanks again

Malc

No here's the deal,

I have to pick up my little boy from nursery between 5-6 and am thinking I could just nip into the bookie and win **** amount. But the best thing to do is stay at work then go collect my little boy go home adn make tea think that is the way I will go.

But being honest I have had thoughts about gambling today.

Think I need to talk to somebody about this. Lets see how today goes will update tomorrow.

So even after the urges decided to stay at work have a cup of tea and wait till 16:45 and go adn collect my son from nursery,

Tomorrow and wednesday will be tougher as my son is at his Nana's and Granda's for a couple of day

There are no winners to gambling its not worth it.

Stayed at work and phoned Gamcare 08002942060 and have now self excluded myself from the local betting shops.

Unsure how I feel but it is for the best.

Well done Malc. It takes a lot of strength and self - control to be able to resist. Brilliant that you persevered and self excluded from the betting shops.
You'll probably have read on here that you can ring the chat line if you feel the need to chat. You can also get free counselling through gamcare.
The samaritans are always available anytime night or day.
All the above never judge and are very understanding.
Stay strong and when you get any urges write on here instead.

Self exclusion through from Gamcare that has to be a start tonight will be tough home alone as little boy goes to his Nana's and Granda's for two nights.

Plan of act go home shower, go out for tea then go home and go to sleep.

Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Well done pal I'm doing just about anything I can to take up my time, if I have a spare moment I get urges followed by massive head aches, was reading through your diary and got nervous for you half way through when you said you were bobbing into self exclude, I know for a fact I'd place "one last bet" if I as much as walked in the door!

Again well done mate know exactly what your going through!

Hi Malkie

Huge congratulations on taking the step to self exclude! I just want to clarify that we (GamCare) don't run the self exclusion line.

Self exclusion from bookies is carried out through a scheme called Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Scheme (MOSES). Their number is 0800 294 2060.

GamCare is 0808 8020 133. We provide information on how to self exclude but we don't actually carry it out for you.

There's more information at our website: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/self-exclusion

Well done again on taking this step!

Best wishes

Back to the start again. Not good, why could I not go out for my tea then just go home like normal people do why can I not do that.

Went out for tea it was good, dropped off my GF at home theen headed to the Casino played roulette and this time it is not about the winning or losing its the fact that I can not trust myself I knew I was going to do it and could nto stop it what kind of person does that.

Next step is to self exclude from the casino only way to keep winning.

Hi Malc,

The only way to stop when you have the urges you cannot fight is to self exclude , self exclusions takes away all the gambling haunts you feel comfortable in and leaves you with very few options to gamble , over the past year I have gradually self excludes from many high street bookies to a point now I would literally struggle to put a bet on if I was out and about.
