Hi Steve. Glad to see things are good with you. I am trying to geta round in this week but will probably only manage 9 holes. A friend of mine is off to Ireland in her car at the weekend and is taking my clubs and old golf bag over their for me to pick up when I go over to play in a charity event during the first week in September. Apparently they are all good golfers so I will have to blame the GUiness or something.

All the best

Hi All,

Thanks for the posts.

Having quite a good time of it at the moment in terms of urges. I haven't had anything major for a few days and am feeling confident again after that tough start of the season feeling.

Today marks 6 months for me and my life has changed for the better so much. My finances are showing signs of recovery and I genuinely believe that I am a much better person than I was when those gambling demons were circling around my head.

For anyone who is struggling or is new to these diaries, please keep jumping back on the horse and keep trying to beat this problem, life is so much better if you can.

Anyway, I won't be complacent, as i've fallen into that trap in the past many times. Thanks for everyone who has helped me get this far, I really don't think I could have done it without you.

Stay Strong

Steve

Thanks for your post,

You seem to be riding the football storm very well. Good for you. Hope the guitar playing is coming along nicely too. Just keep practising! It's amazing how many songs have only a few chords!

Take care, love

Well done on reaching six months Steve...a brilliant achievment.

Now if you could start supporting a decent footy team like Torquay United (Top of the league you know) life could be perfect.

Take care

Hi All,

Thanks for all your nice posts.

I've not been well for a few days and have had only enough energy to drag my a** to work and back, so not felt like posting if i'm honest.

Happy to report another few days without major urges of any sort.

I looked back at the goals that I set myself a few months back and i'm well on my way with some of them. Some of them have morphed into other goals mind. I've decided rather than trying to self-teach myself Spanish, i'm going to go to night school and do a basic Italian course as i'm planning a trip to Rome next year some time. I think it will also help me socially, by getting me out meeting new people, something I struggle with normally. My guitar playing is still very (and I mean very) basic, but time practising will improve me i'm sure. My golf is improving, and i'm always around the low 100's every round I play now. I'm still on with trying to get under 90 before the year is out. I really however must try and get to the gym more as i'm piling on the pounds. I'm a stocky 18 st at the moment. My new aim is to get below 17st before the end of october. (i'm hoping by putting it down in writing that it improves my motivation, as I really do need a kick up the a**e with this).

Amazing the scope for new things when gambling isn't crowding your life.

Onwards and Upwards.

Stay Strong

Steve

Thanks for the post mate...funny you mention that ticket becoming £17 in my mind ave spent it hundreds of times over(but not on gambling) lol...spanish/italian i admire you mate...i find we are all too ignorant when it comes to languages, why do so many english speakers (myself included lol ) expect when in other countries the foreign countries to speak OUR language...as for losing weight..im starting to see my "beer belly" get bigger...probably all the processed c r ap im eating...anyways congratulations on your continued abstainence,we can do this 😉

Thanks for the post Steve.

I will be careful mate and i will be brutally honest with myself. If things take a turn for the worse i will admit defeat.

I did see that there would be a bonus episode on the LOST boxset. Can't wait!

I watched the first series of Damages on my ipod when i was on my hols and that is very good. Had to find something to do whilst waiting for Mrs Curly to get ready every night!

Cheers for your continued support mate and i'm glad if i played a small part in helping you on the road to recovery 6 months back.

Keep it up mate.

Hi Steve, learning Italian and Spanish can only be a good thing to do,maybe we will see you as Capello's sidekick sometime!!!,perhaps a few guitar lessons would move you on with your playing?,not that expensive:).Stay strong mate.

Hi Steve,

Its nice when I read about people doing things for fun again, like learning a language and trying to meet new people. I think because it seems like the person is really living life again. For me, when I first quit gambling, everything seemed pointless. I was so addicted to gambling, that nothing else would hit the spot. This was just at first, now I get pleasure from allsorts of things again.

Again, nice to read that you are planning a holiday - because holidays are not something a CG can have either, when in action.

Take care,

f x

Hi Steve, nothing wrong with setting yourself a few goals. Interesting enough, since I've quit gambling I've started eating more food. I generally treat myself to chocolate, sweets etc. I'm not saying I've put on loads of weight but it's defo been a way of comforting myself away from gambling. Have you not got below 100 yet?? Come on fella...you can do it!! All the best russ
