Hi Steve, thanks for the message mate.......,close game the other night!!!,i think a draw would have been a fair result to be honest, still i'm sure Donny will continue on an upward curve.Good that your still doing well,in spite of a few thoughts about gambling, post more if you feel the need.

Hi Steve

Hi Steve.
I hope everything is ok with you mate and that things went ok in Court.
Good to see you still avoiding gambling. It's a long road you have walked thus far mate and it is best not to turn around and walk back. I speak from experience!
Don't forget to keep swinging the golf clubs through the winter months. It will give you a head start on beating 90 next April.
Enjoy your weekend mate.
Curly.

Hi Steve
Just letting you know we havent forgotten you .I hope all is well Jeff.
Hi All,
Thanks for the nudges and comments.
It's been a few months since I last posted and i'm pleased to say that i'm still gamble-free. I've decided to come back to the forum for a bit as i'm starting to struggle with regular thoughts of gambling. It scared me a bit yesterday that I genuinely thought about 'nipping in to the bookies'. Weird how the thought crept up on me, but I suppose maybe that was a bit of complacency on my part.
I've been free over 9 months now and can say with hand on heart that i'm a much better person for it. In that time I've learnt a basic foreign language at night school, shot a round under 100 (98) at golf, got rid of a lot of debt, done plenty of work for charity and put on a few pounds as well (ok, i'm not perfect, the Brad Pitt body is still under construction). All i'm trying to say is that my life without gambling is a happier and more fullfilling one, and if you would have told me that 10 months ago it would have made me burst into a rare state of laughter. If you are new to the forums and have stumbled on my diary please take heart that although it doesn't seem like it now, your life can be so much better without gambling in it. Just admit that you have a problem, put blocks in place, use the forums to gather advice and support, set yourself a few small goals in the 1st few weeks and then a few larger ones in the months that follow, and try and find the positives in life again. YOU CAN DO IT!!
I'll be catching up with a few old friends diaries in the next few days.
Stay Strong
Steve
great to read of you doing so well steve mate.....as you are well aware these pages are a good safety net for any strong urges...welcome back my friend 🙂
Hi Steve
So pleased to read you are still going strong, great news. And always good to read success stories, gives people like myself hope.
Keep up the good work and take care mate
Hi Steve, great to hear that all is still well with you. I wanted to ask you a question.......how have you found not using the diaries? The fact that you have come back may answer my question! A nice 98 in the bag.....now you need to break 90! Take care russ
Hi Steve, nice to hear from you:),glad to see that you are still bet free, good idea posting again due to urges, you will soon kick them into touch.Speak soon.
Seano.
STEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVEEE!
Great to have you back mate!
Congratulations on staying bet free despite your absence from the forums. 9 months mate! Wow!
Knocking it round the golf course in less than 100 blows as well. You will *** 90 this year mate. Keep practicing your chipping and putting!
I'm really missing LOST mate. I just finished watching the last season of 24 which i had on Sky Plus. It was running at the same time as the last season of LOST so every episode was littered with adverts for LOST. It feels like a long lost friend to me now!
I fancy that the missus has got the box set on my xmas list so i will probably go back to the start as well. I'm glad some things are making more sense the second time around. I think the writers fudged a lot of it though.
Did i ever tell you i went to the LOST set in Hawaii on my honeymoon? I've got some cracking photos of me and Mrs Curly recreating various scenes!
We didn't see any polar bears though!
Keep up the good work pal. Great to have you back!
Hi All,
Thanks for the posts.
My bloody internet connection hasn't been working, but my IT mate has fixed it now so I can start posting again.
It's been a really busy week for me and this is my only day off in the next 7 days (next one being X-mas day!!) so i'm trying to fit in a lot of X-mas stuff, so not had much time to think of gambling, although saying that, a friend from work brought in slip yesterday and asked if I wanted to do one too. I said that I couldn't be bothered, but it did get those demons out of their slumber for a moment. Anyway must perservere as by my reckoning i'm 1 day off 10 months gamble-free!!
Russ, to answer your question about life without the day to day posting, I found it really tough at first, as although we all don't really know each other well, the support from this place is very comforting and when the going gets tough, there is always someone with good advice on here to help you out. As a few weeks had gone past, i'd found that i had filled the time spent on here with other things. One thing I will say is that I had a few strong urges during my time away, and it was during the last one of these that I came very close to walking into a bookies if i'm honest. That was my little wake up call and I started back reading and now posting again, just to get me over these urges.
Anyway, great result for my beloved Donny Rovers last night so i'm in a good mood today.
Hope everyone has a great-gamble-free week.
Stay Strong
Steve
