Thanks post and stumper,

Did ok today, no gambling. 2 hours at the gym, must be a record for me. Been thinking of my Dad a lot today, he sadly lost out to cancer this January. Feel a bit lost without him if i'm honest. A good mate as well as a great dad. Maybe should use him as inspiration hey?!

At work all day and night tomorrow so should be too busy to think about gambling.

Stay Strong

Steve

Losing a loved one is never easy for anyone mate and I am sure we all feel for you as it is still only a short time since your sad loss. There is always another side to everything and maybe this time it is that your dad is looking down on you and willing you to move away from a life of gambling. You have the opportunity to make him look down and feel such pride because you have managed to stop gambling. You should certainly use this as your inspiration as you could not have a greater one to try to aspire to.

All the best

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the post on my diary. Sorry to hear about you losing your dad.

I must confess that the thought of losing my dad one day is my biggest nightmare. He is my all-time hero and my biggest regret in life is the pain and worry i have no doubt caused him down the years with my gambling. I'd love my dad to know that i managed to leave gambling behind before his time comes.

I like what stumper says mate. Your dad is looking down on you and willing you to succeed. An inspiration for you indeed.

Best wishes to you Steve.

Thanks everyone,

I know my Dad would be proud of me facing my problems.

Had a long day at work today and not had time to think about gambling, but it is my hardest time of the month now, pay day. Also the weekend is here and I would normally hit the bookies after soccer am in the morning to place footy bets and play on FOBT's. However I am determined to avoid falling into that trap.

Helped an fruit machine player out tonight thanks to stumper, she was crying because she had lost money she couldn't afford but was determined to lose more. I gave her a Gamcare leaflet and told her that 'she cannot win because she cannot stop'. She filled out the self barring form and went home to her fella. Good job stumper!!!

Feel like an inside agent now!! lol.

Stay Strong

Steve

P.s come on the Rovers, need to beat palace tomorrow.

Thanks for your posts guys,

I'm sorry I haven't posted for a few days, but been very busy at work. Probably a good thing really as haven't really had time to dwell on not gambling. Quite proud of myself for not doing footy bets over the weekend (if i'm honest I thought I would do them).

Stay Strong

Steve

Hi Steve,

How are things with you?

Glad to see you avoided betting on the footy last weekend. It's a bit pointless having a bet really isn't it? If you lose you lose, if you win, you lose eventually. With every bet you place you lose a bit more dignity and self-esteem.

Stay gamble free Steve. You know it makes sense.

Thanks for the posts guys,

I really look forward to coming on here every night and reading everyone's posts, it certainly beats logging on to a gambling site and losing my money and more importantly my sanity!!!

Curly, I have only recently started taking up golf often. My Dad used to play 2-3 times a week and during his Chemo on his good week we would go and have a smash on the range. We managed to get a few rounds in as well which meant a lot to me. He told me that I have a smooth swing and will improve with practice, but I don't know if he was just being a encouraging Dad? I now play with my older bro, who is fairly decent and plays off 5 as well. He doesn't always appreciate giving me 28 as a learner!!!

i hope the new putter will help you sink a few more.

Stay Strong

Steve
