I would say I slipped up but it's more like a catastrophic fall over a month. I never know we're to start its just annoying I can't control my self to say no. Quite sad really because I'm strong at other things but this just seems to much. Gave up smoking and that was easy compared to this. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel. I feel like my day is boring if I don't gamble and sometimes can't wait to go. God knows why I just end up lousing my money and end up with nothing. Doing my nut in. Chasing my loses. Just gonna start from today this is the second time stoping properly and meaning it. If anyone has any ideas I would be great full. I have self excluded from the bookies and have given my bank card to my gf. Going to do a diary again. I have never done couceling don't know if it's any good. Hopefully put these fobt machines behind me for good
I can't add much more to ABT's great advice.
I would just say make sure you get everything out in the open with your girlfriend absolutely no point in keeping anything back.
I have not gone down the counselling route but many have with lots of good feedback. I choose the GA route which in tandem with here has worked wonders for me.

Thank you for your post.
I am going to have a good look at my life and see myself gambling free. Atm I have no idea how I'm going to do that but I'm just going to go one day at a time. Longest I've been its nearly two weeks with out doing any sort of gambling in 10 years. As the days pass hopefully I will see things different than I do now. I have a son 4 and one on the way so now is the time to stop.
I can't see anything replacing the time I have to gamble. Nothing makes me want to do that instead of go the bookies. If that makes sense gambling is at the top of my list. I need a new replacement something different..
I can't remember the last time I woke up and not though about gambling at all throughout the day. hopefully that time will come I'll be coming on here every night reading the stories
thanks agin
Day 2
has anyone found that when you have no money in your bank it's easy to not think about gambling but as soon as you get paid some trigger kicks in to go gamble. And the if you lose your wages it's the chase to get that back weather lending from familie by lying, loans anything really.
When you say it out loud you realise how stupid that sounds but I have been doing that month after month. To be able to have money in my bank and watch it build up without losing any ov it on the machines that would be amazing long way off yet but still in a good place today.
Hope everyone who's reading this is doing well today
Hello just thought I would have a a update on my diary. I have been out the bookies for 10 days no spins on any game machine. Feel happy and strong minded still.
Big test and passed had to stop off at the service station to get some food on the way to a training couse and with out a doubt I would have played on the machines there. If not even stoped just to play them. Sat down had my food and left felt grate. Gonna keep busy and find a new hobby.
All who's in the same situation or similar I wish you well
Tom
Hi everyone
I read people's posts on here everyday gives me a good reminder of what I'm trying to achieve. This is my 24th day gamble free I haven't been to the bookies for 24 days sounds amazing seen as it's the longest iv been in 10 years. And being honest I think about going most part of the day because they are everywhere seems to be worse now with eurges than a week ago. Just keep busy in the day helps. I hope over time off changing my habits bookies will become a distant memory.
I'm going to keep saying no and then fill that time with someting elce.
Hope everyone who is going thru this is staying strong good luck

Hi tom,
Fantastic - well done on 24 days gf, you should be proud of yourself! If you are feeling lots of urges ensure you keep the triangle broken as much as you can - time, location and money. You seem to be doing that by keeping busy which is great but sometimes if you can, it helps to break another one of these. I always find I am more relaxed and dont think about gambling when i am busy and have no access to gamble (laptop locked away).
Good luck on your journey, keep saying no one day at a time.
