7 days without a gamble- Its a tiny amount but for me a lunatic gambler who has gambled for 12 years and lost £200,000 in the last year it seems like something to celebrate.

For the first time I am attending counselling on Friday and am determined to rid myself of this crippling disease.

I still wake up and go to bed thinking of gambling. The money I have lost and I hate to admit it but also think about how I can win big next time.

I am worried I will slip, but I cant now because I will lose everything.

Does anyone have any tips on how to try and stay clear. My addiction is sports betting- anything and everything. Sorry if I sound pathetic as I have never posted here before but reading these stories is inspiring and I want to succeed so badly. I want a normal life where the pleasures are there.

Thanks to you all.

Seany

Go for an hour's walk every day, preferably up a hill. You will feel a thousand times better.

I know because that is what I do.

Good luck.

@anderson-vibes Yes I have banned myself and am doing my best. Best moment of the day right now is when I am asleep, how sad is that.

Hi Seany, I gambled for 16 years and am 34 now. I have been to the depths, bankruptcy and then accruing debts of over 50k again within a year, all due to gambling. I have lost similar figures.

After relapsing time and time again I am now at 73 days gamble free.It can be done and the moments of anxiety and that gambling feeling we get does go away. Try and take yourself out of the moment. Easier said than done I know, but I would go and make a cup of tea, take a step back for a second (as my gambling was so impulse and anxiety driven) and it has worked for me these past 10+ weeks.

Put all the blocks in place, use gamban, gamstop and have blocks via your bank to stop gambling transactions.

I also have my brother and girlfriend signed up to my banking app so they receive a notification every time a transaction happens on my account. It's worked for me.

Best of luck and I will keep an eye on your diary, I have one too.

J

Cutting up my card is what's helping me. I banned myself completely online years ago but I started gambling in person. Cutting up my card is really helping me....6 days free
