It is good that we celebrate the success stories of those of us who have stopped gambling and who are not only staying stopped but thriving because of it. There is so much misery centred around gambling, so it is good to talk about positive stories.

So what does being clean for 17 months mean to me, what have I gained personally from stopping since the end of July 2022?

Well my mental health is good, I am no longer stressing over money or kicking myself after a big loss. I feel like a normal person especially on weekends, I can go out to my town centre, look in shops buy a pair of trainers, have a coffee, no longer having the urge to go into a bookies.

I value my money more, I respect my money and my wage. I can save now and plan goals based on reality, I can have a good meal everyday without thinking of the cost. I can plan for Xmas as well as other special occasions without worrying where the money comes from.

I feel no guilt when I spend money on a car or a 75 inch telly because I have earned the money, saved the money and I deserve it.

I have no overdraft or credit card, stopped those over 10 years ago, this is helping me now because having those two things enabled my gambling to spiral, I will never have a credit card or overdraft again.

My credit rating is now in a very good place, you see I always paid my bills and I was never in default, I just suffered in other ways. I have my pets where I spoil, I would rather spend on them rather than a bookies.

I can go to work and talk about fun things I have done rather than stay quiet feeling ashamed because I spent my weekend in the bookies.

Success is looking at myself in the mirror and knowing I have stopped through my own hard work and dedication.

Hi

For me once I was able to abstain from my unhealthy habits I coudl exchange them in to healthy habits.

For me once I was able to abstain from my addictions only then could the healing start.

In time I would heal the hurt inner child in me.

Things that I use to suppress and bury would come to the surface.

In time my fears would reduce and therapies would became a healthy regular habit.

Love healing and peace to every one.
