Hi im sorry im new so im not sure if this is the right place to talk about this.
I've had a gambling problem for around 5 years now.
I went to my bank 5 months or so ago and asked to block payments to gambling websites on my card. I handed them my card and they said it had all been sorted. Fast forward to now and I've still been able to gamble this whole time on that card. Obviously as soon as I realised it for some reason wasn't blocked on my card, I should of gone back into the branch and asked again but I didn't. I've now contacted my bank via live chat and asked why I could still make these payments and they said one of my other cards was the one that had got blocked. I didn't even recognise the card they said it was. I said I asked for it to be my main card when I went in to the bank 5 months ago and they basically said tuff luck. Should I go back to the store and complain to try and get some money back and finally block my card or should I just move on?Â
Any advice is greatly appreciatedÂ
Thanks
You asked the Bank to block your card and because perhaps you lost you want your bank to pay for your Losses. It may be helpful to reflect on if you feel ready to give up Gambling.Surely you can't expect others to compensate your Gambling. Their is Gam ban Gamstop Moses moses. Loads of stuff out there that will help block your gambling.Â
@ypqtfao731 I wasn't looking for sympathy, just advice
Hi Cj,
Whilst blocking via your bank is useful, I would definitely look into blocking yourself from the websites directly as well. Firstly get in touch with Gamstop for all UK based websites, then pair this with the Gamban app on all of your devices as this will also ban the offshore gambling websites not covered by Gamstop.Â
Â
Lastly, use MOSES to ban yourself from stores. Once all of this has been done, make sure to make a note of the dates these bans come to an end (5 years for Gamstop & Gamban) (1 year for MOSES) and keep them rolling over.Â
Â
It has really helped me, I am now 71 days gamble free for the first time since 2015! Do everything you can to block yourself away from these websites, its the only way.Â
Good luck staying gamble free.
