My fiance is coming home tonight for the first time since I found out that he gbled away our rent money. In the past I have always made excuses for him and managed to scrape the rent from somewhere. I know I can no longer do this, it's no good for me and the kids with the constant worry and I also know I'm enabling his behaviour. I feel that we are at at breaking point if he doesn't admit he has a problem and get help. Is it possible for me to get him to admit to his problem?

Not really:(. If you put his back up against the wall and force him to admit he will go into lying and manipulation mode.

Maybe when he comes home sit down and say where YOU are at and what you consider to be the ground rules... what you and your kids need.

Addicts only admit there is a problem when we no longer buy the BS they are selling.

I am at my whits end. I feel like my partner is making me crazy with his denial of how much his gambling is affecting our life. I rang gam anon on Friday and have my first counciling session on a 1-1 on Thursday. This is free but hoping it helps me to make a decision about staying or leaving. Maybe its worth giving them a call?

I know you are WandW and I am so sorry. I wish I could tell you that if you follow x,y, and z it will all be good but we have no guarantees. Keep trying to avoid worrying about him. Think about yourself and your kids. When a person is mired in addiction they are not overly rational that is why it is up to you to do what works for you. Please get some support for yourself... a GamAnon meeting if at all possible. It really does help to have face to face time with people who know exactly what you are going through.
