I had an addiction for nearly 20 years and after going to rehab i have not gambled for nearly 2 years. I have recently found out my son has an issue with gambling and has got himself in to a lot of debt. The guilt is crippling. Its my fault for exposing him to this awful habit

About 75% of all adults in the UK are involved in some form of gambling it is a serious countrywide problem so no need to blame yourself

You shouldnt blame yourself. Gambling is advertised everywhere, every day, giving opportunity to gamble on any thing at any time.

Instead, try and take an positive view. Most people who encounter gamblers and are not themselves just think "just dont do it its stupid". But you have the experience. You have stopped for 2 years and thats fantastic. You obviously have the will power and knowledge to help yourself, now you can transfer that knowledge to your son.

What better person to help your son, than someone with knowledge, understanding, patience and unconditional love from their parent.

On a side note: my personal struggles - my parents just dont understand and get angry when I try to explain. It doesn't help me and I shut them out.
