Hi, my names James and its 3 days now since my last bet.

Ive been a compulsive gambler since 2007 which resulted in me declaring bankrupt in '08. since then ive been trying to rebuild my life and gain the confidence of family and friends. 2 years ago I met my current girlfriend who made me feel the best I have in years and I love her to bits. Last christmas I was in a position finally to give my dad a cheque for £15k to clear all my debts with him and it was the best feeling I have ever had.....finally I felt like a man.

Then, for some crazy reason in March I decided to place a bet on my mobile...the trigger?..I cant remember but as previous you lose a little, win a lot, lose a lot more then your chasing...its stupid, rediculous and Ive spent the past few months in a world of tirmoil. I had to tell my brother on Monday as I needed cash to live. He has been supportive but tonight I 'm telling my partner and to say I am dreading it would be so far off the work. I love her so much and if this addiction ruins it well...I'll never forgive myself....

All I can think at the moment is tiny steps make a lot of progress and the more I am open about this the quicker I can move forward.

Cheers

James

Good luck James. This has struck a chord with me as I'm trying to gain the confidence to admit all to my partner. Absolutely terrifying isn't it!

Terrifying is a word and a 90 minute drive to chew it over in my head! 🙁 ... I hop im worrying for nothing...I expect a blast but I know her dad used to have gambling and alcohol problems so her view on my failing this time might be more emotional...just gotta bit the bullet now and hope its a positive...
