I am 8 days into my recovery and yesterday was the first day that i had any feeling of gambling

... Thankfully i didn't act on it but if you look o my diary someone suggested i put it out there to see if anyone needed or was interested in a forum buddy .. Im not quite sure what's involved but i guess its just someone to bounce ideas and thoughts off. Have a look at my diary and if your interested let me know..

Hi,

Well done for posting. Having read your recovery diary, it seems like you are doing well and enjoying the friendly atmosphere of this forum.

Well done for not gambling for 8 days, this journey is taken a day at a time, and each day may come with its challenges. Opening your own diary is very good, a place that you can do your own reflection and for others to also contribute to help you.

This forum is a community where we support each other and do not run a buddy system. I am aware that other places may have buddies but we at Gamcare like to use the community approach, so as well as providing this space, we also run a live chatroom every evening which you can join and put across to the group that you meet in the chatroom whatever help you would like, and together with the Chatroom moderator who is a Gamcare staff, you can all come up with a solution which you can consider if you like the idea.

We also give free counselling if you would like to look at the underlying reasons why you gamble, or what triggers off the urge for you to want to gamble.

If you would like to talk in confidence with an advisor you can talk to one of us on our Free Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or chat with us on our Netline on

http://secure.gamcare.org.uk/netline/

We are here to help.

Regards

Florence
