Well Back again for the umpteenth time , But this time I really need to stop . Ive tried GA but just not for me at all. Ive blown a lot of money infact the bookies rub there hands together when i come in to play roulette machines.

Jut wondering if theres a number i can call to chat to someone. I really want to get a diary started and make sure I hit this every day. I want to get committed to stopping crucifying myself and blaming everyone around me. I look at the people in betting shop playing machines see there faces and anger and realise thats me. I dont want that anymore . Any ideas help where to start ladies and Gentlemen, a rally around would be good. And a good talking to by a mentor would be great

Im 44 years old and full life of this cr** and I need to stop from now .

Thanks

Mick

Hello Mick

We're really glad you've joined the forum. You ask if there's a number you can call to talk to someone. Our freephone helpline is open 8am to midnight every day on 0808 8020 133. We can help give you options to help your recovery (though I see you have already started that by self-excluding). We can also refer you to face to face counselling as you say you want to sit down and talk to someone.

Warm wishes

Deirdre, Forum Admin.

Nice one Mick,

I used exclusion to start my road to recovery & I couldn't agree more that this is just one part of it. Reading & writing stuff down has really helped me after nearly 3 decades of giving my hard earned cash to complete strangers 🙁 All you have to do is look around @ what our cash is contributing to, more opportunities for people like us to get sucked into hell as betting shops appear on every corner! I'm done ruining my life & risking other peoples. I was one of those angry faces, hating myself for picking the wrong machine, glaring @ others celebrating wins, not being happy with a £500 jackpot because I'd put that much in & more 🙁 I now choose 'no' one day at a time & I feel the sun on my face when I walk past a shop, hell, I even manage a smile!

I'm no mentor as I'm only just starting out on this journey! I really hope you take Deirdre up on her offer as they are the experts - Good luck walking this road, watch out for pot holes, they hurt if you fall in them but there's always a way out! My life began in my 40's, no reason yours can't too!
