So I’m back again, almost 6 months from when I last posted. Everything was going so well, I had a wonderful Christmas, didn’t gamble for around 4/5 weeks which was huge for me considering I have gambled every day for years. Until January, being a big rugby fan the season was about to start again, I saw some brilliant odds for a double I was certain was going to win so I backed it in the bookies. It won, I thought to myself, if I just bet on the rugby it won’t be that bad, but as the weeks went on I started to bet on all different sports, until it got to the point I started placing huge bets on university basketball for example. Something I knew absolutely nothing about yet I was placing over a days wages on this game, I can’t understand why my brain functions like this!!!! People will point me to GamStop, but this didn’t stop me! I desperately guessed my brothers password to a betting account he didn’t use and started to bet on there! I have asdmitted this now and got him to change his password, I have no way to bet online anymore, just 4K debt and a holiday to pay off in 3 weeks! £0 to my name, where do I start? Thanks in advance, David.

first off i would think about cancelling that holiday consider it the first step to acknowledging you have a problem and taking responsiblity for it

you will only start to learn a lesson when you have to start making personal sacrifices

You mentioned that you backed the double in the bookies? Have you thought about cutting off ties there? Handing in a self exclusion form with your photo. Do this for local bookies, but you can also call the multi operator where you give them a list of all known bookies in the area and they have the ability to ban you from them (all you have to do is provide ID).

It all went wrong because you placed that first bet. Stay away from it all mate, one day at a time.
