the good news was that a week later i had quite a big win, all well and good, i told a few people but i feel ashamed and nobdy knew about my adiction.

only for a week later i've again lost a lot of money recently

i cried myself to sleep with a guilty feeling that i am ungratful for the fact that i won some money i need help with how to stop and deal with whats happend.

i am amazaed by how people have the courgae to come back after huge losses and its inspired me to now talk about it.

Dear @Josh1998

Welcome to the GamCare forum. Thanks for sharing your story.

You're not alone in going back after a win and putting it all back and more. I think a lot of people on the forum will identify with that experience, and will also recognise the difficulty you're having in putting it behind you.

It is not easy to draw a line under the loss and move on, but it's important to do that, otherwise you could be tempted to go back and gamble more. There are tools to help you stop, such as Gamstop, the self exclusion scheme for online gambling. There's also blocking software - apps which stop you accessing gambling sites.

GamCare can also help with free treatment to help you change your thinking and make lasting changes in your gambling behaviour.

We can also help with advice and support to help you put it all together and stay on track. Why not give our Helpline a call on 0808 8020 133 or contact us by Livechat? We're here 24/7.

Keep posting,

Best wishes,

Deirdre

Hi Josh,

What happens is people realise that the money  is just the bait, its what keeps us going back for more, its how we justify our gambling no matter how reckless it gets. When we realise that we accept our losses and stop chasing them.

When you cant stop is when there is a problem. Compulsive gamblers such as myself may stop for days, weeks or even months on end but once we go back gambling we inevitably end up on a downward spiral as we cannot stop.
