Hello everyone. I am a gambling addict. I have done some awful things to try and pursue my addiction.

I stopped gambling on the 4th June 2019. Self excluded myself with gamban, gamstop, recieved CBT treatment which helped. Managed to get my relationship stronger. Concentrate on important things more.

Recently my expiry date for gamban come to a end, I just never had the strength to continue the self exclusion, due to relationship problems, also being isolated. I currently suffer from anxiety, so not a good mix.

I spent about £400 pounds on online. I was totally shocked that they allowed me to log and deposit funds. I have a 5 year self exclude with the primary information with both parties.

I felt totally sick, worthless when did it. It was like I couldn't control my thoughts at that present moment.

Something come over me to say STOP! Within half hour of gambling. I managed to pay to gamban, have that block in place. Just facing the rough end with girlfriend.

She is so strong and tries support me in every way. I'm sick and tired upsetting her. I don't want her to decide one day and leave.

I managed to stop myself from gambling. Could of been alot worse like in the past.

Wish my partner would see the positive, that I managed stop myself out of the gambling trance i was in.

Is there any way that they are at fault? They've should of never accepted me back knowing the previous.

Hope someone has had same experience. That could help explain to me how they moved forward.

Thanks

Are they at fault? Possibly. But bookies are not charities. They are money making businesses and they do it very well by finding enough mugs like us. I would be more concerned that you are wondering if they were at fault. This isn’t your biggest issue. You need to be honest with yourself, don’t worry about what the bookies do or don’t do, worry about whether you were at fault. We ultimately have to take responsibility for our actions as this is the first phase of planning a recovery. The only way to stop the bookies behaviour being a concern to you is to not give them any of your hard earned in the first place. It’s not easy but every day you don’t have a bet is a day you’ve beaten the bookies.
